Century Digital
Century Digital was a radio station for London and Birmingham established in 2001 and disestablished in 2007. About the station When CE Digital won the licence to operate a Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) multiplex in London, one of the stations they proposed to offer was a new Adult contemporary music station from the then Capital Radio plc. The station was originally developed under the name Cube, but after the takeover of the regional Century stations in the North of England, previously owned by Border Television, the Cube name was dropped in favour of making the new station an offshoot of these, under the name Century London. (The name Cube would later be revived as the original name for the kids' pop station which would go on to become Capital Disney). Heart North East is a regional radio station owned and operated by Global as part of the Heart network. It broadcasts to North East England from studios in Newcastle. History Century Radio Century Radio was the first regional station for North East England and also was the first to use the Century brand, which followed a 'personality' format, mixing speech and music. The station was originally based beside the Tyne Bridge in Gateshead, before relocating to Team Valley in 2008 to share a building with fellow GMG Radio stations, Smooth Radio and Rock Radio. Real Radio Digital was a DAB Digital Radio station operated by GMG Radio as part of their Real Radio network of stations. The station was designed to provide service over digital services in areas where Real was not available in a local form. Real Radio Digital was primarily provided on the MXR regional digital multiplexes. It was not available on MXR Yorkshire (where Real Radio (Yorkshire) was carried instead) or on MXR South Wales & Severn (Real Radio (Wales)); the Switch Scotland (Central Scotland regional multiplex) carries Real Radio (Scotland). Capital Life, also known as Life, was a digital radio station broadcasting across the UK on the Digital One network and streamed online. Capital Life was due to be available on DTV but never launched due to the closure of the station. About Capital Life was owned by GCap Media, having been launched by Capital Radio PLC before the company merged with the GWR Group PLC. It was one of the first DAB Digital Radio stations to launch in the UK in 1999 on the Digital One multiplex. The station had two presenters to start with. It was based in a news studio used by Capital Gold London outside of breakfast hours.
