Centro Universitario De Estudios Cinematográficos
The National School of Film Arts ( es, Escuela Nacional de Artes Cinematográficas or CUEC) is a public film school part of the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City. It was influenced by the ''Nouvelle Vague'' and by the First Contest of Experimental Film organized in Mexico that year. In 42 years, CUEC has had as students several of the main Mexican filmmakers. CUEC produces almost 100 short films a year, many showing at international festivals. History The Escuela Nacional de Artes Cinematográficas was founded in 1963 as the official film school of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. In 1972, it became a member of the International Association of Film and Television Schools (CILECT). In 1986, it launched an annual cycle of film production. Maria Novaro
María Novaro (born María Luisa Novaro Peñaloza; September 11, 1951, in Mexico City) is a Mexican film director. She was among the first generation of female filmmakers to graduate from a film school in Mexico. She has made five feature films and fourteen short films. Within the Mexican film industry, she has been a cinematographer, sound mixer, director, screenwriter and editor. Today, Novaro is one of the best known Mexican filmmakers to come out of the New Mexican Cinema and her films express Millian's idea of cinema in feminine. Carlos Marcovich (born March 20, 1963, Buenos Aires) is a director, editor, photographer and producer of Mexican cinema. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he came with his family to Mexico on April 1, 1976. In 2011 he became a naturalized Mexican. Julián Hernández (born 1972 in Mexico City, Mexico as Julián Hernández Pérez) is a Mexican multi-awarded filmmaker. He won twice the Teddy Award at Berlin Film Festival with his movies ''Thousand Clouds of Peace Fence the Sky, Love, Your Being Love Will Never End'' (2003), and ''Raging Sun, Raging Sky'' (2009). Jaime Humberto Hermosillo
Jaime Humberto Hermosillo Delgado (22 January 1942 – 13 January 2020) was a Mexican film director, often compared to Spain's Pedro Almodóvar. Born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, in central Mexico, Hermosillo's films often explore the hypocrisy of middle-class Mexican values. He worked with Gabriel García Márquez on ''Mary My Dearest'' (1979) and ''The Summer of Miss Forbes'' (1988). His film ''Homework (1991 film), Homework'' (1991) was entered into the 17th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Special Mention. At the time of his death Hermosillo was teaching film-making at the University of Guadalajara and had recently collaborated with his students on several projects. Jorge Fons
Jorge Fons Pérez (23 April 1939 – 22 September 2022) was a Mexican film director. He belonged to the first generation of film directors of the UNAM. His short film, ''Caridad'' (1973), is still considered one of the best films in Mexican cinema. Two of the most important films of his filmography are ''Rojo amanecer'' (1989) and ''El callejón de los milagros'' (1995) based on the homonymous book by Naguib Mahfouz, '' Midaq Alley'' of 1947 (زقاق المدق), which breaks the classic lineal plots in films. Fernando Eimbcke (born 1970 in Mexico City) is a Mexican film director and screenwriter. Fernando Eimbcke studied film direction at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos of the UNAM (1992–1996). He started his career directing music videoclips and short films.
