Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA) was registered as a Trust in Hyderabad in the year 2004. It is an Independent Research Organization, partnering with NGOs and Community-based organizations to establish Sustainable Agriculture models. CSA has implemented Non-Pesticidal Management (NPM) in 45 villages in Andhra Pradesh. Organizational structure Board of Trustees: This Board consists of agriculture scientists like Dr M. S. Chari, Retd. Non-pesticide Management
Non-pesticidal Management (NPM) describes various pest-control techniques which do not rely on pesticides. It is used in organic production of foodstuff, as well as in other situations in which the introduction of toxins is undesirable. Instead of the use of synthetic toxins, pest control is achieved by biological means. Some examples of Non-Pesticidal Management techniques include: * Introduction of natural predators. * Use of naturally occurring insecticides, such as Neem tree products, Margosa, Tulsi / Basil Leaf, Citrus Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, Onion, Garlic spray, Essential Oils. Central Tobacco Research Institute (CTRI) or also known as ICAR-CTRI is a central research established in 1947 under the aegis of Indian Central Tobacco Committee (ICTC), Madras. ICRISAT
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is an international organization which conducts agricultural research for rural development, headquartered in Patancheru (Hyderabad, Telangana, India) with several regional centers (Bamako (Mali), Nairobi (Kenya) and research stations (Niamey (Niger), Kano (Nigeria), Lilongwe (Malawi), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Bulawayo (Zimbabwe). It was founded in 1972 by a consortium of organisations convened by the Ford and the Rockefeller foundations. Its charter was signed by the FAO and the UNDP. Pest Management
Pest control is the regulation or management of a species defined as a pest; any animal, plant or fungus that impacts adversely on human activities or environment. The human response depends on the importance of the damage done and will range from tolerance, through deterrence and management, to attempts to completely eradicate the pest.
