Wadesboro is a town in Anson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,049 at the 2020 census. The town was originally found in 1783 as New Town but changed by the North Carolina General Assembly to Wadesboro in 1787 to honor Colonel Thomas Wade, a native son, state legislator, and Revolutionary War commander of the Anson County Regiment. Atrium Health Mercy
Atrium Health Mercy (formerly Mercy Hospital, later Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy) is a 185-bed adult health tertiary acute care facility located in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. The hospital was established in 1906 by the Sisters of Mercy and is the first Catholic hospital ever built in North Carolina. In 1995, the Sisters of Mercy sold the hospital to Carolinas Healthcare System, now Atrium Health. The hospital is also home to several specialty departments, including Pulmonary and Pain Management facilities. Shelby is a city in and the county seat of Cleveland County, North Carolina, United States. It lies near the western edge of the Charlotte combined statistical area. The population was 20,323 at the 2010 census. History The area was originally inhabited by Catawba and Cherokee peoples and was later settled between around 1760.
