Central House (Central, Alaska)
The Central House, also known as Erickson & Stade's, at Mile 128 on the Steese Highway in Central, Alaska, was a log structure built in 1926 by Riley Erickson and John Stade, replacing an 1894 log and sod structure that was burned in a 1925 fire. It served as a roadhouse restaurant and hotel, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Located on Crooked Creek, it was deemed significant for its historical role as a central focus for miners of other creeks that were Birch Creek tributaries and for serving travelers. The building was about in dimension, and the main logs are spruce joined by saddle corners. The roof was dirt-insulated and covered with galvanized metal roofing. In 1978, the lower three courses of logs of the walls were pretty well rotted, due to frequent creek flooding, and the building was decaying rapidly. Central House is an 1860s hotel building located in the 800-person village of Orangeville, in Stephenson County, Illinois, United States. The building was built by Orangeville founder John Bower and operated as a hotel from its construction until the 1930s, when it was converted for use as a single family residence. The three-story building was the first commercial brick structure in downtown Orangeville. Architecturally, the building is cast in a mid-19th-century Italianate style. Central House was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1999. Central House, also known as the Tavern Inn, is a historic home located at Napoleon, Ripley County, Indiana. It was built in the late-1820s, and is a two-story, Federal style brick building. It has a side gable roof with stepped gable ends. The interior consists of three rooms on each floor. Central House Hotel
Central House Hotel is located in Boscobel, Wisconsin. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. History The hotel was built by Adam Bobel, a Prussian immigrant who had served with the 20th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War. After a fire in 1881, the building was largely re-built. In 1898, the hotel was overly crowded due to a lumberman's convention. Two salesmen, John H. Nicholson of Janesville, Wisconsin and Samuel E. Hill of Beloit, Wisconsin, were sharing a room since no single rooms were available.
