The Central District of Varzaqan County ( fa, بخش مرکزی شهرستان ورزقان) is a district (bakhsh) in Varzaqan County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 33,955, in 7,619 families. The District has one city: Varzaqan. A ( fa, بخش, also romanized as ) is a third-level administrative division of Iran. While sometimes translated as "county," it is more accurately translated as "district," similar to a township in the United States or a district of England. Varzaqan ( fa, ورزقان; also Romanized as Varzeqān and Warzagan; formerly, Karzigan (Persian: كَرزيگَن), also Romanized as Kārzigān and Karzygan) is a city in the Central District of Varzaqan County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran, and serves as capital of the county.
