The Central District of Rafsanjan County ( fa, بخش مرکزی شهرستان رفسنجان) is a district (bakhsh) in Rafsanjan County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 211,495, in 52,055 families. The district has two cities: Rafsanjan and Mes-e Sarcheshmeh. A ( fa, بخش, also romanized as ) is a third-level administrative division of Iran. While sometimes translated as "county," it is more accurately translated as "district," similar to a township in the United States or a district of England. In Iran, the provinces (first-level divisions) (استان, ''ostān'') consist of several counties (second-level divisions) (شهرستان, ''shahrestān''), and the counties consist of one or more districts (third-level divisions) (بخش, ''bakhsh''). Rafsanjan County ( fa, شهرستان رفسنجان) is in Kerman province, Iran. The capital of the county is the city of Rafsanjan. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 291,417, in 71,830 households. The following census in 2011 counted 287,921 people in 76,797 households, by which time Anar District had been separated from the county to form Anar County. Rafsanjan
Rafsanjan ( fa, رفسنجان, also Romanization, Romanized as Rafsanjān and Rafsinjān; also known as Bahrāmābād) is a city and capital of Rafsanjan County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 136,388, in 33,489 families. Rafsanjan is the biggest producer of pistachios in the world. Also one of the biggest copper mines in the world is located there too. In addition the biggest and oldest house of the world is located there. Many famous people were born in Rafsanjan: Mirza Reza Kermani, Ali Akbar Hashemi, Adel Ferdosipour etc. It is Iran's center of pistachio cultivation.
