Club Social y Deportivo Central Ballester, simply known as Central Ballester is an Argentine football club based in the Boulogne Sur Mer district of Greater Buenos Aires. The team currently plays in Primera D, the 5th division of Argentine football league system. History The club was founded on October 26, 1974, by a group of fans who did not accept the closure of the club where they used to meet ("Club Atlético Central Argentino"). Not conceived as a continuity of the original, Central Ballester promoted to Primera C but soon returned to the lowest division of AFA affiliated football. Primera D
The Primera D is one of two leagues that form the fifth division of the Argentine football league system. Made up of 11 clubs from Buenos Aires Province, the league is the only one that remains amateur. The other league at level five is the Torneo Federal C, where teams from regional leagues take part. It was created in 1950 under the name "Tercera de Ascenso" ("third level of promotion"). The first champion was Liniers. In 1962 the tournament changed its name to "Primera de Aficionados", which lasted to 1974, when it was called "Primera D", which has remained to date. The Argentine football league system include tournaments organised by the Argentine Football Association. Clubs affiliated to the body compete in the tournaments, which are split into categories or divisions. Rules establish a system of promotion and relegation, a process where teams are transferred between two divisions based on their performance for the completed season. The best-ranked team or teams in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team or teams in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. The Primera C Metropolitana is one of the two professional leagues that form the fourth level of the Argentine football league system. Primera C Metropolitana is made up of 20 clubs mainly from the city of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area (Greater Buenos Aires). The other league at level four is the Torneo Federal B, where teams from regional leagues take part. Format Primera C is currently organised into two league tournaments, the Apertura (opening) and the Clausura (closing).
