The Centenari M1 was a Le Mans Prototype, originally built by Centenari in 1991 for the Italian Prototype Championship. In 1997 International Sports Racing Series season, 1997 and 1998 International Sports Racing Series season, 1998, it was used in the SR2 and the CN category of the International Sports Racing Series. Two cars are known to have been built. History National events In 1991, Centenari entered Federico D'Amore and a M1 in several Italian Prototype Championship events. The best result of the season was a third-placed finish at Enna-Pergusa. For 1992, D'Amore left the team, and Stefano Speranza was entered at Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Monza, but failed to finish. Arturo Merzario was then entered in two races, with his best finish being eighth at Vallelunga. The car was not used again in 1993, but Merzario used the car from 1994 until 1997 in the series. International Sports Racing Series
The FIA Sportscar Championship was a sports car racing series created by John Mangoletsi and was eventually taken control of by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It was a series similar to the FIA GT Championship, concentrating on two classes of open-cockpit sports prototypes in endurance races mostly around Europe. Debora LMP297
The Debora LMP296 was a Le Mans Prototype, built by Debora Automobiles in 1996 for use in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car was originally entered with a 2-litre turbocharged Cosworth straight-four engine, but several other engines were used in the car's three-year career. Two cars are known to have been built. In conjunction with the LMP297, the car helped Waterair Sport to the International Sports Racing Series SR2 Team's Championship in 1998. The LMP296 was updated into the LMP299 for 2000. Design and development The LMP296's chassis was developed by Roger Rimmer, whilst its bodywork was designed by Didier Bonnet. It featured an aluminium honeycomb monocoque chassis, and its open-top bodywork was made from carbon fibre. The 6 Hours of Monza (formerly the 1000 Kilometres of Monza and known after 1966 as "Trofeo Filippo Caracciolo") is an endurance race, mainly for sports cars, which is held at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy. Overview Despite its title, the race has been run at shorter lengths (most notably in the late 1970s and early 1990s, before the demise of the World Sportscar Championship in 1992). The Coppa Intereuropa was first held in 1949 on a circuit. The race length was expanded to 1,000 km in 1954; in 1956, it was held on a circuit. The race was shortened and returned to the 6.3-km track the following year. In 1960 and 1961, it was part of the FIA GT Cup. In 1963, the race was held as a three-hour event for production-based cars in the World Sportscar Championship before its expansion to 1,000 km in 1965.
