Cenderawasih University ( id, Universitas Cenderawasih) is a university in Jayapura, Papua province, Indonesia. The university is the leading educational institution in the province. The university has faculties in economics, law, teacher training and education, medical, engineering, and social and political science. Until 2002 the university had a faculty of agricultural sciences at Manokwari, which was then separated to form the Universitas Negeri Papua. The university is divided into two areas: mainly the "Kampus lama" (old campus) which is in the Jayapura suburb of Abepura and the "Kampus baru" (new campus) which is in the hillside of Waena valley. In 2021 it appointed the first woman, Marlina Flassy, to a deanship in its history. Flassy, an anthropologist, was appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, and is also the first indigenous Papuan to hold the position. Barnabas Suebu (born April 29, 1946), also known as Bas Suebu, is an Indonesian politician. He was the governor of the Indonesian province of Papua for two periods: 1988–1993 and 2006–2011. Apolo Safanpo (born 24 April 1975) is an Indonesian academician and bureaucrat who is serving as the Governor of South Papua in an acting capacity since 11 November 2022. He also held office in the Ministry of Home Affairs as the minister's expert staff for governance since 9 November 2022. Karel Sesa
Karel Sesa (5 April 1954 – 3 March 2015) is an Indonesian academic who served as the Rector of Cenderawasih University from 2013 until his death in 2015. Education and career Sesa was born on 5 April 1954 in Teminabuan, a small town in Dutch New Guinea. After graduating from high school, he continued his study at the University of Brawijaya in Malang and graduated in 1984 with a doctorandus. Festus Simbiak
Festus Simbiak (born 1 February 1952) was an Indonesian academic and politician who served as the acting rector of Cenderawasih University from 2011 until 2013 and as the coordinator for private universities in Papua and West Papua from 2013 until 2017. Early life and education Simbiak was born on 1 February 1952 in Biak, an island in the Dutch New Guinea territory. Simbiak attended the 413th state high school in Sorong from 1969 to 1971. Upon finishing his high school education in Sorong, Simbiak moved to North Sumatra, where he studied at the HKBP Nommensen University from 1972. He first received an associate degree in teaching. Adi Andojo Soetjipto
Adi Andojo Soetjipto (11 April 1932 – 12 January 2022) was an Indonesian jurist and lecturer who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of Indonesia from 1981 until his retirement in 1997. Boaz Theofilius Erwin Solossa (born 16 March 1986) is an Indonesian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liga 2 club Persipura Jayapura, on loan from Liga 1 club PSS Sleman.
