CenTex Cavalry
The CenTex Cavalry were an indoor American football team that played in the 2017 season as a member of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). Based in Belton, Texas, the Cavalry played their home games at the Bell County Expo Center. The Cavalry was the third indoor football team to call Belton home, following the Texas Bullets who played in the original Professional Indoor Football League for its only season of 1998 and the CenTex Barracudas who played in the Intense Football League from 2006 until its dissolution in 2008. Champions Indoor Football (CIF) is a professional indoor American football minor league created in 2014 out of the merger between the Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) and Lone Star Football League (LSFL), plus one team from the Indoor Football League and two expansion teams. Players are paid $75 – $300 per game before taxes with no other benefits. An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. 2017 Champions Indoor Football Season
The 2017 Champions Indoor Football season was the third season of the CIF. It started on February 25, when the Omaha Beef traveled to Iowa, losing to the Sioux City Bandits 63–44. The regular season concluded on Saturday, June 3. This was the first season in which four teams per conference advanced to the Champions Bowl playoffs, with the top seed in each conference hosting their conference's fourth seed, and second seeds hosting third seeds in the first round. The league champion was the Texas Revolution, who defeated the Beef 59–49 in Champions Bowl III. The season MVP was Duke City Gladiators quarterback Donovan Porterie, and the Champions Bowl MVP was Revolution wide receiver Clinton Solomon. Bell County Expo Center
The Bell County Expo Center is a 6,559-seat multi-purpose arena, in Belton, Texas. It was formerly the home of the Texas Bullets ( PIFL), the CenTex Barracudas (IFL), the Central Texas Stampede ( WPHL) and the Central Texas Blackhawks (and later Central Texas Marshalls).
