''Celtic Empire'' is the twenty-fifth novel in the Dirk Pitt Adventures novel series by Clive Cussler, and the last written by the original author. Plot NUMA Director Dirk Pitt, as well as NUMA itself, becomes involved in finding who is behind a plot to murder a team of scientists in El Salvador, rob a team of archaeologists along the Nile and who is behind a deadly collision in the waterways along the city of Detroit. Before the mystery can be solved, Pitt's two children become targets of killers. Pitt's detective work on the mystery leads him to Scotland; where he, with the help of NUMA, must stop a deadly plot that could radically change the world. Reviews ''Kirkus Reviews'' liked this novel, saying in its review, "One darned thing after another keeps the Pitts in peril and will keep readers turning the pages." Clive Cussler
Clive Eric Cussler (July 15, 1931 – February 24, 2020) was an American adventure novelist and underwater explorer. His thriller novels, many featuring the character Dirk Pitt, have reached ''The New York Times'' fiction best-seller list more than 20 times. Cussler was the founder and chairman of the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), which has discovered more than 60 shipwreck sites and numerous other notable underwater wrecks. He was the sole author or lead author of more than 80 books. His novels have inspired various other works of fiction. Early life Clive Cussler was born in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Amy Adeline (née Hunnewell) and Eric Edward Cussler, and grew up in Alhambra, California. Dirk Cussler
Dirk Cussler (born 1961) is an American author. He is the son of best selling author Clive Cussler and a co-author of several Dirk Pitt adventure novels, as well as being the namesake of the Pitt character. Early life and education Cussler was born in 1961; he has an MBA from Berkeley. Career Cussler worked for many years in finance before assisting his father in writing the latest novels in the ''Dirk Pitt'' series. Cussler also plays an integral part in the non-profit foundation National Underwater and Marine Agency, which was founded by his father. Cussler is head of the council of NUMA and is also a member of the NUMA's Board of Trustees.
