Celtic Boys Club
St Patrick's Sports Academy is a youth football and sports club based in Motherwell, near Glasgow in Scotland. It operates football teams in age groups from under-9 to under-19. Formerly Celtic Boys Club, it helped more than 50 players towards professional careers, some at Celtic F.C. It was renamed in August 2018 at a time when four former affiliated individuals were awaiting trial for historic sexual abuse offences committed from the 1960s to the 1990s. First based in Maryhill, the club was initially independent from the professional Celtic Football Club, but links started to strengthen as the Boys Club was allowed to use the training facilities at Barrowfield training complex on London Road. Motherwell
Motherwell ( sco, Mitherwall, gd, Tobar na Màthar) is a town and former burgh in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, south east of Glasgow. It has a population of around 32,120. Historically in the parish of Dalziel and part of Lanarkshire, Motherwell is the headquarters for North Lanarkshire Council. Geographically the River Clyde separates Motherwell from Hamilton to the west whereas the South Calder Water separates Motherwell from Carfin to the north-east and New Stevenston and Bellshill towards the north. Jimmy Boyle (footballer)
Jimmy Boyle (born 19 February 1967) is a Scottish football player and coach who is currently the assistant manager of Cove Rangers. He is best known for the eight years he spent with the original Airdrieonians, and the manager of new Airdrieonians from 2010–2013. He played in two Scottish Cup Finals in his time with the original Airdrieonians. Having managed the Airdrie Under-19s at the club for several years, he succeeded Kenny Black as interim first team manager in July 2010, with the appointment being made permanent in September 2010. Boyle was sacked in October 2013, with the team bottom of the 2013–14 Scottish League One table. Boyle moved into a role within the Scottish Football Association before being appointed Dundee F.C. Head of Youth Development in April 2016. David Elliot (footballer)
David Elliot (born 13 November 1969 in Glasgow) is a Scottish former footballer who played for Celtic, Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Falkirk and Hibernian. Career Early in his career, Elliot was a pacy winger who could also score goals. He gained his football education at Celtic Boys Club where he was coached by Celtic legends Davie Provan, Bobby Murdoch and Jimmy Johnstone after which he signed for his boyhood heroes in 1987. He managed six first team appearances in the 1988–89 season, making his debut at the age of just 19 years old. Elliot then moved to Partick Thistle where he finished top scorer in season 1990–91, scoring 13 times in his 37 league appearances. Simon Donnelly
Simon Thomas Donnelly (born 1 December 1974) is a Scottish professional football player and coach. Donnelly played as a forward or wide midfielder for Queen's Park, Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday, St Johnstone, Dunfermline Athletic, Partick Thistle and Scotland. He established himself at Celtic, winning the Scottish League title in 1997–98 and being a member of the Scotland squad at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. In 1999 he moved to English football with Sheffield Wednesday, but struggled with injuries in his time there. Returning to Scotland, he played for St Johnstone, Dunfermline and Partick Thistle before his playing retirement in 2011. Gerard Thomas "Gerry" Creaney (born 13 April 1970, in Coatbridge) is a Scottish former association football, footballer, who played as a Striker (association football), striker. Career Creaney began his career with Celtic F.C., Celtic, signing from the boys club and making his competitive debut in the first team on 24 March 1990 in a 0–0 draw away at Dunfermline Athletic F.C., Dunfermline. Danny Crainie
Daniel Crainie (born 24 May 1962) is a Scottish retired association football player who played for twelve football clubs in Scotland, England, Australia and Ireland. Crainie began his football career at Celtic where he scored seven goals and making sixteen appearances in his debut season for the Scottish club. He played only a few games in his following two seasons at Celtic before moving to England to play for Wolverhampton. Crainie made over 60 appearances for the Wolves which would be more than he would make for any other club. Stephen Crainey
Stephen Daniel Crainey (born 22 June 1981) is a Scottish former professional footballer. He is currently U21 manager for Wigan Athletic. A left back, he made 319 appearances in the Premier League and Football League, including 214 for Blackpool. In his 18-year-long playing career, Crainey has also previously played for Celtic, Southampton, Leeds United, and Wigan Athletic and Fleetwood Town. Ronnie Coyle
Ronnie Coyle (4 August 1964 – 12 April 2011) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a defender. Early life Coyle was born in Glasgow and educated at St. Gerard's Secondary School. Coyle played for Celtic Boys Club and the Scotland Under-15 schoolboy honours team, alongside, among others, Paul McStay, John Robertson and Ally Dick, which defeated England 5–4 in 1980. Barry John Corr (born 13 January 1981) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Football career Corr began his senior career with Scottish Premier League club Celtic. Jim Casey (footballer)
Jim Casey (born 2 August 1957 in Glasgow) is a Scottish retired football midfielder. He spent eight seasons in Scotland and part of one season in the United States. Originally a schoolboy signing with Celtic, Casey signed a professional contract with the Bhoys in May 1974. He made his Celtic first team debut in the 1-0 League Cup win at home to Stenhousemuir on 24 September 1975. He saw little first team time until the 1977-78 season. That year, Casey was given his break at sweeper after an injury to Pat Stanton. Gary Caldwell
Gary Caldwell (born 12 April 1982) is a Scottish former professional footballer and coach who is the current manager of Exeter City. Caldwell played for Newcastle United, Darlington, Coventry City, Derby County, Hibernian, Celtic, Wigan Athletic and won 55 international caps for Scotland.
