The British Rail Class 08 is a class of diesel-electric shunting locomotive built by British Railways (BR). As the standard BR general-purpose diesel shunter, the class became a familiar sight at major stations and freight yards. Since their introduction in 1952, however, the nature of rail traffic in Britain has changed considerably. The Harry Needle Railroad Company (HNRC) is a railway spot-hire company, based at Barrow Hill Engine Shed in Derbyshire. Project Birch is the British government's bailout plan for companies during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of September 2020, only one company has qualified for help. Description The Treasury said that support would be given to "viable companies which have exhausted all options", whose failure would "disproportionately harm the economy".
