Celebrity Soup
''Celebrity Soup'' is a weekly comedy series focusing on recaps of various pop culture and reality show television highlights of the week. It was broadcast on E! Entertainment Television and was the UK version of the USA's long-running series '' The Soup''. There were two series aired from 2005–2006. The series was hosted by Iain Lee who provided sarcastic commentary on the various clips. The show was filmed on bluescreen at Princess Productions' Bayswater Studios in London. Infotainment (a portmanteau of ''information'' and ''entertainment''), also called soft news as a way to distinguish it from serious journalism or hard news, is a type of media, usually television or online, that provides a combination of information and entertainment. The term may be used disparagingly to devalue infotainment or soft news subjects in favor of more serious hard news subjects. Infotainment-based websites and social media apps are gaining traction due to their focused publishing of infotainment content, e.g. BuzzFeed. Iain Lee (born Iain Lee Rougvie; 9 June 1973) is an English broadcaster, writer, and former television presenter and stand-up comedian who hosts the phone-in talk show '' The Late Night Alternative'' on "pay to view" Patreon. Lee's career began in the 1990s as a stand-up comedian before he gained nationwide fame as co-host of ''The 11 O'Clock Show'' from 1998 to 2000 and the breakfast show '' RI:SE'' in 2003. ''The Soup'' is an American television series that aired weekly on E! from July 1, 2004, until December 18, 2015 as a revamped version of ''Talk Soup'' that focused on recaps of various popular culture and television moments of the week.
