Cedar Grove High School (CGHS) is located at 2360 River Road, Ellenwood, Georgia, United States in suburban south DeKalb County, Georgia, DeKalb County. It opened in the fall of 1972 with an enrollment of 512 students. Enrollment has fluctuated over the years with the development of the surrounding area. In 1993, with the resurgence of housing developments in the area, enrollment began to increase. Cedar Grove High has six computer labs - one writing composition lab, one math/science lab, three business labs, and a NAF AOIT Academy lab. A teacher computer in each classroom is networked with internet access. Since the inception of the Bill Gates Millennium Scholars Program, Cedar Grove High has had winners: two in the first year, two in the second year, and one in the third. DeKalb County School System
The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) is a school district headquartered at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard in unincorporated DeKalb County, Georgia, United States, near Stone Mountain and in the Atlanta metropolitan area. DCSD operates public schools in areas of DeKalb County that are not within the city limits of Atlanta and Decatur. It will serve a portion of Atlanta annexed by that city in 2018 until 2024, when that portion will be re-assigned to Atlanta Public Schools (APS). The school district is overseen by the seven-member DeKalb County Board of Education. The interim superintendent/CEO is, as of May 18, 2022, Dr. Vasanne S. Tinsley. DeAngelo Malone (born July 12, 1999) is an American football outside linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Western Kentucky. Early life and high school Malone grew up in Ellenwood, Georgia and originally attended Martin Luther King Jr. High School before transferring to Cedar Grove High School. He recorded 49 tackles with eight tackles for loss and was named first-team All-State and All-Metro by ''The Atlanta Journal-Constitution'' as Cedar Grove won the AAA state championship. Desi Terrell Banks Jr. (born May 9, 1993) is an American comedian and actor. He played two seasons of college football for Morehead State as a wide receiver. Early life and education Banks was born and raised in the Eastside of Atlanta, Georgia. He said he was "always the funny kid growing up" and influenced by comedians Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. He went to Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia, where he competed in track, baseball, and football. Banks played football in college for the Morehead State Eagles. Marcus McNeill
Marcus McNeill (born November 16, 1983) is a former American college and professional football player who was an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons. He played college football for Auburn University, and was two-time All-American. The San Diego Chargers selected McNeill in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft, and he played his entire pro career for the Chargers. He was selected for the Pro Bowl twice.
