Cedar Grove (Williamsport, Maryland)
Cedar Grove is a historic home located at Williamsport in Washington County, Maryland, United States. It is a two-story, four-bay brick-cased log dwelling with a central chimney built of stone and brick. The original part of the house was built about 1760, with later Federal-style additions. The house is likely one of the early tenement houses on Lord Baltimore's Conococheague Manor. Federal Architecture
Federal-style architecture is the name for the classicizing architecture built in the newly founded United States between 1780 and 1830, and particularly from 1785 to 1815, which was heavily based on the works of Andrea Palladio with several innovations on Palladian architecture by Thomas Jefferson and his contemporaries first for Jefferson's Monticello estate and followed by many examples in government building throughout the United States.
