Cecilia Grierson is a station on the Buenos Aires Premetro. It was opened on 29 April 1987 together with the other Premetro stations. The station is located in the Barrios of Buenos Aires, Barrio of Villa Soldati, near Parque de la Ciudad. Side Platforms
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). The Premetro is a light rail line that runs along the outskirts of Buenos Aires, connecting with the Buenos Aires Underground line E, at Plaza de los Virreyes station and then to General Savio, with a short branch to Centro Cívico. It opened in 1987 and is operated by Metrovías. Villa Soldati
Villa Soldati is a neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina, located in the South-West of the city. It has a population of approximately 41,000 people, 40% of which live in Barrio Soldati, a public housing development built between 1973 and 1979. The ward is delimited by 27 de Febrero Ave., Coronel Esteban Bonorino, General Francisco Fernández de la Cruz Ave., Varela, Perito Moreno Ave., Castañares, and Escalada streets. Founded in 1908 by Dr. José Soldati as "Villa Lugano," the area originally included what today is the Villa Lugano neighborhood. The first lots were sold in 1911, but the area's topography led to frequent flooding, and much of the area was left undeveloped. Parque De La Ciudad
The Parque de la Ciudad ( en, City Park) is a former amusement park in the Villa Soldati neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. History The park was planned by the administration of Mayor Osvaldo Cacciatore in 1978. Cacciatore, appointed by Argentina's last military government, envisaged the park as the centerpiece of efforts to revitalize the dilapidated Villa Soldati ward. The mayor opened the contract to develop a theme park for bidding, and awarded the bid to Interama Parks S.A., a company established for the purpose; Alberto Gourdy Allende was chosen as its first managing director. Interama Parks was formed for use of the military that governed Argentina at that time, but also for civilian use. Youth Olympic Village (Buenos Aires)
The Youth Olympic Village is an Olympic Village built for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in the district of Villa Soldati, a southern neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The village also hosted the closing ceremony. It is located within the limits of the Parque de la Ciudad, City Park, next to the Parque Polideportivo Roca, Roca Park and the Predio Ferial Olímpico. It consists of 1440 new apartments on 32 six-storeys buildings, totaling around 160,000 m2. During the YOG the village hosted 7500 people, 30% of which were located in 40 m2 apartments, with 4 beds, 2 bedrooms and one bathroom; while the other 70% lived in 65 m2 apartments, with 6 beds, 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. 2018 Summer Youth Olympics
The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics ( es, Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud de 2018), officially known as the III Summer Youth Olympic Games, and commonly known as Buenos Aires 2018, were an international sports, cultural, and educational event held from 6 to 18 October 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They were the first Youth Olympic Games held outside of Eurasia, and the first Summer Games held outside of Asia and the first to be held in the Western and Southern hemispheres. It was the second Olympic Games held in South America after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Bidding Six bids were initially submitted for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.
