Cecil Thiré
Cecil Aldary Portocarrero Thiré (28 May 1943 – 9 October 2020) was a Brazilian television, film and stage actor, and director. Life and career Thiré was born in Rio de Janeiro, the only son of actress Tônia Carrero and artist Carlos Arthur Thiré. He was named after his grandfather Cecil Thiré, a mathematics teacher at Colégio Pedro II and textbook writer. At the age of 17, he studied acting with Adolfo Celi and worked intensely in theater in the 1960s. At age 18, he had his first professional job, as assistant director to Ruy Guerra in ''Os Fuzis''. At 19, he directed his first film, the short film ''Os Mendigos''. In 1967, he directed the feature films ''O diabo mora no sangue'' and, later, ''O Ibrahim do subúrbio''. As an actor, he was in the cast of more than twenty films, having started at the age of nine, in a small appearance in ''Tico-Tico no fubá,'' starring Tônia Carrero. ''Luz del Fuego'' is a 1982 Brazilian drama film directed by David Neves and featuring Lucélia Santos in the lead role. RTP1 (''RTP um'') is a Portuguese free-to-air television channel owned and operated by state-owned public broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP). It is the company's flagship television channel, and is known for broadcasting mainstream and generalist programming, including '' Telejornal'' news bulletins, prime time drama, cinema and entertainment, and major breaking news, sports and special events. It was launched on 7 March 1957 as the first regular television service in Portugal. It was the only one until 25 December 1968, when RTP launched a second channel. Two regional channels followed, RTP Madeira on 6 August 1972 and RTP Açores on 10 August 1975. As RTP held a monopoly on television broadcasting in the country, they were the only television channels until the first commercial television was launched on 6 October 1992, when SIC started broadcasting nationwide. ''Sol de Verão'' (''The Summer Sun'' in English) is a Brazilian telenovela produced and broadcast by TV Globo. It premiered on 11 October 1982 and ended on 18 March 1983. The death of lead actor Jardel Filho, when only 120 episodes out of the originally planned 155 were finished, caused the production to be cut short. The telenovela still ran for a further 17 chapters to wrap up the plot, for a total of 137 episodes.
