Basilica Del Santo Niño
The Basílica Menor del Santo Niño de Cebú (Minor Basilica of the Holy Child of Cebú), commonly known as Santo Niño Basilica, is a basilica in Cebu City in the Philippines that was founded in 1565 by Fray Andrés de Urdaneta and Fray Diego de Herrera. It is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, allegedly built on the spot where the image of the Santo Niño de Cebú was found during the expedition of Miguel López de Legazpi. This image of the Child Jesus is the same presented by Ferdinand Magellan to the chief consort of Rajah Humabon on the occasion of their royal Baptism to Roman Catholicism on 14 April 1521. The image was found by a soldier named Juan de Camuz forty years later, preserved in a wooden box, after Legazpi had razed a local village. Sugbo (hymn)
"''Sugbo''", also known as the Sugbo Hymn, is the official hymn of the province of Cebu in the Philippines. History The hymn was composed by Dr. Susana Cabahug and Rogelio Serna, and arranged by Angel Cabilao. It was adopted by the Cebu Provincial Board with the passage of Provincial Ordinance No. 2006–10 on October 2, 2006. In 2010, then Provincial Board member Julian Daan proposed and was able to secure the approval of a resolution mandating public elementary and high schools within the province to sing the hymn after the Philippine national anthem during the flag ceremony. Daan observed that despite the passage of the said ordinance in 2006, its implementation was not strictly followed. The Cebu Provincial Capitol is the seat of the provincial government of Cebu in the Philippines. Located at the north end of Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City, it was designed by Juan M. Arellano, a Filipino architect best known for the Manila Metropolitan Theater (1935), the Legislative Building (1926; now the National Museum of the Philippines), and the Manila Central Post Office (1926). Bogo, officially the City of Bogo ( ceb, Dakbayan sa Bogo; fil, Lungsod ng Bogo), is a 6th class component city in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 88,867 people. The plebiscite for the cityhood of Bogo was held on June 16, 2007, in which 97.82% of voters of Bogo voted for cityhood.
