''Ceasing to Breathe'' is the third full-length album by American metalcore band Still Remains. Critical reception Robert Garland of Sputnik Music writes: "For all those who see metalcore as a dead or dying subgenre, Still Remains shows hope in the form of bringing back some of their older sounds. Ceasing To Breathe shows an act rising from the ashes." Brody B. from Indie Vision Music says: "Still Remains are back, and what I would say better than ever. Sure they're all grown up now, but I think that tends to add a more polished and complete sound to the band. Still Remains
Still Remains is an American metalcore band from Grand Rapids, Michigan. They formed out of previous local bands Shades of Amber and Unition. They released three studio albums, '' Of Love and Lunacy'', '' The Serpent'' and '' Ceasing to Breathe'', both to positive reviews, and had minor UK chart success with the single "Dancing with the Enemy". They disbanded in mid-2008, but reunited for one final show in March 2011. In May the band announced that the reunion would be permanent. History In October 2003, Still Remains recorded their EP, ''Dying with a Smile''. These are songs that the band had been playing since the fall of 2001. From the beginning, Still Remains were playing at local venues (such as Grand Rapids' Skelletones) to build a name for themselves. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Daniel Weyandt is the third and current vocalist of the American metalcore band, Zao. He was also the bassist for Seasons in the Field and current bassist for Lonely//Ghost//Parade. Weyandt is also a tattooer and owns a shop in his hometown, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Zao (American Band)
Zao () is an American metalcore band founded in Parkersburg, West Virginia and later relocated to Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Founded in March 1993, Zao has hosted several musicians and endured numerous roster changes to the point where no original members remain. Former drummer Jesse Smith (musician), Jesse Smith, vocalist Daniel Weyandt, Dan Weyandt, and guitarists Scott Mellinger and Russ Cogdell are seen by some fans as the "core" of Zao, with the current line up being the longest running in the band's history.
