Ceará
Ceará (, pronounced locally as or ) is one of the 26 states of Brazil, located in the northeastern part of the country, on the Atlantic coast. It is the eighth-largest Brazilian State by population and the 17th by area. It is also one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil. The state capital is the city of Fortaleza, the country's fourth most populous city. The state has 4.3% of the Brazilian population and produces 2.1% of the Brazilian GDP. Literally, the name ''Ceará'' means "sings the jandaia". Ceará Sporting Club, or Ceará, as they are usually called, is a Brazilian football team from the city of Fortaleza, capital city of the Brazilian state of Ceará, founded on June 2, 1914, by Luís Esteves and Pedro Freire. Ceará is one of the most traditionally successful clubs in the Northeast region of Brazil alongside Bahia, Santa Cruz, Sport, Náutico, Vitória and their city rivals Fortaleza. Marcos Venâncio de Albuquerque (born 16 June 1980 in Crato), commonly known as Ceará, is a Brazilian right wingback. Career Ceará began his football career in the city of Crato in the state where Ceará was born. Ceará began his football career when he joined Gama youth academy and earned a nickname ''Ceará''. In 1999, he joined Brazilian side Santos where he spent one year and then joined various Brazilian clubs in the lower division like Associação Atlética Portuguesa and São José. In 2001, Ceará joined Santa Cruz where the club became 25th place in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, which resulted relegation to Campeonato Brasileiro Série B. At Santa Cruz, he made 19 league appearances. The following year, he joined Botafogo where he played against Sport Club do Recife in the Brazil Cup which resulted 1–1 draw. USS ''Hermitage'' (LSD-34) was a of the United States Navy. She was named for The Hermitage, President Andrew Jackson's estate just outside Nashville, Tennessee. ''Hermitage'' was laid down on 11 April 1955, by the Ingalls Shipbuilding Corp., Pascagoula, Miss.; launched on 12 June 1956; sponsored by Mrs. Alfred M. Pride, wife of Vice Admiral Alfred M. Pride, and commissioned on 14 December 1956. Service history While on shakedown in the Caribbean, ''Hermitage'' was informally inspected by Admiral Arleigh Burke, then Chief of Naval Operations. After training operations out of Naval Station Norfolk, she sailed for the Mediterranean Sea in late August to join the 6th Fleet. Brazilian Monitor Ceará
The Brazilian monitor ''Ceará'' was the fifth ship of the river monitors built for the Brazilian Navy during the Paraguayan War in the late 1860s. ''Ceará'' arrived in Paraguay in mid-1868 and provided fire support for the army for the rest of the war. The ship was assigned to the Mato Grosso Flotilla after the war. ''Ceará'' was scrapped in 1884. Design and description The ''Pará''-class monitors were designed to meet the need of the Brazilian Navy for small, shallow-draft armoured ships capable of withstanding heavy fire. The Ceará gnateater or Caatinga gnateater (''Conopophaga cearae'') is a passerine bird of the gnateater family, Conopophagidae. It is found in forest understory and bushes in northeastern Brazil. The Ceara gnateater is locally called “''cupadente''”, or “spitter” in Portuguese due to the sound it produces when it vocalizes. Appearance They are about 11.5 to 14 cm (4.5 to 5.5 in) long. Ceará-Mirim
Ceará-Mirim is a city in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The population is 73,886 and the area is 739.686 km2. Etymology The origin of the city name is a mystery. Câmara Cascudo, one of the most important historians in Brazil, gives some alternatives from other authors, with all the alternatives leading to the Tupi language. José de Alencar suggests us that Ceará comes from the Tupi expression ''cê-ará'', meaning "the parrot speaks" or "the parrot sings". Teodoro Sampaio gives us ''ceará'' or ''cemo-ará'', which is "the parrot leaves" or "the parrot's departure".
