Cayo Lara
Cayo Lara Moya (born 1952) is a Spanish politician. He was the leader of United Left (Spain), United Left (IU) from December 2008 to July 2016. He is also a member of the leadership of the Communist Party of Spain (main), Communist Party of Spain. Early years and regional leadership Born at Argamasilla de Alba in Ciudad Real Province, Lara, the son of a truck driver, has spent most of his life there. At the age of 13, he abandoned his studies to help support his family, having several jobs, until returning from his military service where he established his own farm. By the late 1970s, he was one of the main leaders of the Farmers' Unions in his province and joined the Communist Party of Spain. With the restoration of democracy in Spain, he was elected a member of the executive committee of the Coordination of Farmers Organisations (COAG). United Left ( es, Izquierda Unida , IU) is a federative political movement in Spain that was first organized as a coalition in 1986, bringing together several left-wing political organizations, most notably the Communist Party of Spain. IU was founded as an electoral coalition of seven parties, but the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) is the only remaining integrated member of the IU at the national level. 2008 Spanish General Election
The 2008 Spanish general election was held on Sunday, 9 March 2008, to elect the 9th Cortes Generales of the Kingdom of Spain. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 208 of 264 seats in the Senate. After four years of growing bipolarisation of Spanish politics, the election saw a record result for both ruling Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and opposition People's Party (PP), together obtaining more than 83% of the vote share—over 21 million votes—and 92% of the Congress seats. The PSOE under José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero benefitted from tactical voting against the PP and emerged as the most-voted party just 7 seats short of an overall majority. Juan Manuel Sánchez Gordillo
Juan Manuel Sánchez Gordillo (; born 5 February 1952) is a Spanish politician, labour leader and history school teacher. Since 1979 he has been the Mayor of Marinaleda and since 2008 MP for United Left (UL) in the Parliament of Andalusia. He is also leader of the party Collective for the Unity of Workers - Andalusian Left Bloc (CUT-BAI), part of UF and the rural workers's union Andalusian Workers' Union. Joan Josep Nuet i Pujals (born 6 August 1964) is a Spaniards, Spanish politician from Catalonia who currently serves as Member of the Congress of Deputies of Spain.
