Cave Creek Museum
The Cave Creek Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity at the base of the Black Mountains in the town of Cave Creek in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The museum preserves artifacts of the prehistory and objects related to the culture of the Cave Creek/Carefree foothills area. The museum consists of various exhibits, indoor and outdoor. Among the outdoor exhibits are the first church of Cave Creek and the last tubercular cabin in the state of Arizona. History In 1968, a group of local volunteers, who formed a historical society, founded the Cave Creek Museum on land donated by Frank and Hazel Wright. Their mission was and is to preserve artifacts related to the prehistory, history and culture of the Cave Creek/Carefree foothills. The main plan was to accomplish the set mission through education, research and interpretive exhibits and programs. In April 1970 the museum officially opened its doors. Cave Creek is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town was 4,892. History Cave Creek was settled in 1870 by soldiers on horseback from Fort McDowell. In 1873, prospectors from the Bradshaw Mountains found gold in the town. The town is named for the cave next to the creek the town was founded on. Geography Cave Creek is a town in the Sonoran Desert. The Black Mountains of northwest Arizona are an extensive, mostly linear, north-south trending long mountain range. It forms the north-south border of southwest Mohave County as it borders the eastern shore of the south-flowing Colorado River from Hoover Dam. The northwest and part of the western areas of the range are located within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Three wilderness areas are within the range. The historic mining site of Oatman, 4 miles north of Boundary Cone, is nestled in the southern portion of the range between the Mount Nutt and Warm Springs wildernesses. The Monroe School is a historic former school at 215 North 7th Street at the intersection of Monroe Street in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. It was designed by Norman Foote Marsh in the Neoclassical or Classical Revival style and was an elementary school and then a high school from 1914 to 1972. Later it was a Department of Defense recruiting center until 1988. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Pioneer And Military Memorial Park
The Pioneer and Military Memorial Park is the official name given to seven historic cemeteries in Phoenix, Arizona. The cemeteries were founded in 1884 in what was known as "Block 32". On February 1, 2007, "Block 32" was renamed Pioneer and Military Memorial Park. The Pioneer and Military Memorial Park is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Pioneer Living History Museum is located at 3901 W. Pioneer Road in Phoenix, Arizona. The museum, also known as Pioneer Village, has 30 historic original and reconstructed buildings from the 1880s and early 1900s on its 90-acre property. Phoenix Police Museum
The Phoenix Police Museum is located on 2nd Ave & Jefferson Street, on the 1st floor of the Historic Phoenix City Hall. The museum highlights the history of the Phoenix Police Department from 1881, when Henry Garfias, was elected the first city marshal to the present. The museum also has an exhibit which explains the connection between the Phoenix Police and the "Miranda Rights". There are various educational exhibits in the museum some of which the community can participate and have an interactive experience. The Wells Fargo Museum in Phoenix was one of eleven museums throughout the United States of the Wells Fargo Bank.
