Causeway Classic
The Causeway Classic is the annual college football game between the Sacramento State Hornets and the UC Davis Aggies in the United States. The teams exchange a Causeway Classic Trophy made from cement taken from the Yolo Causeway. History of the game The two teams first played each other in 1954, when the Davis Campus was still officially known as the College of Agriculture at Davis, and have played every year since, including twice in 1988 when they met in the NCAA Division II playoffs. Games hosted by UC Davis are held at Aggie Stadium. Games hosted by Sacramento State are held at Hornet Stadium. The name "Causeway Classic" was introduced in the early 1980s and is credited to former Sacramento State sports information director Mike Duncan. It refers to the Yolo Causeway, a causeway over the Yolo Bypass on Interstate 80, which connects Davis and Sacramento, California. Sacramento State Hornets Football
The Sacramento State Hornets football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the California State University, Sacramento located in Sacramento, California. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and are members of the Big Sky Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1954. The team plays its home games at the 21,195-seat Hornet Stadium. History In 1954, Dave Strong was named the first football coach for the Hornets football program. Camp Fire (2018)
The Camp Fire was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California's history, and the most expensive natural disaster in the world in 2018 in terms of insured losses. Named after Camp Creek Road, its place of origin, the fire started on Thursday, November 8, 2018, in Northern California's Butte County. Folsom is a city in Sacramento County, California, United States. It is commonly known for Folsom State Prison, the song "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash, as well as for Folsom Lake. The population was 80,454 at the 2020 census. Folsom is part of the Sacramento−Arden-Arcade− Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area. Core Sample
A core sample is a cylindrical section of (usually) a naturally-occurring substance. Most core samples are obtained by drilling with special drills into the substance, such as sediment or rock, with a hollow steel tube, called a core drill. The hole made for the core sample is called the "core hole". A variety of core samplers exist to sample different media under different conditions. More continue to be invented on a regular basis. Davis is the most populous city in Yolo County, California.
