Catherine Svarc (born 25 November 1991) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Brisbane in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). Svarc is from Corowa, New South Wales and grew up on a farm with younger sister Ruby Svarc in a family passionate about Australian rules. Wilston Grange Football Club
The Wilston Grange Football Club is an Australian rules football club which competes in the Queensland Australian Football League. It is based in inner-northern Brisbane and fields senior men's and women's, masters, youth and junior teams. The club's home at Hickey Park, Stafford, also hosts the largest AFL9s league in Queensland. History Wilston Grange was formed in 1945 as "Wilston Football Club", renamed Wilston Grange in 1947 and entered the QANFL in 1950. Their original home ground was Emerson Park, Grange, and the club relocated to Hickey Park for the 1964 season. Corowa, New South Wales
Corowa is a town in the state of New South Wales in Australia. It is on the bank of the Murray River, the border between New South Wales and Victoria, opposite the Victorian town of Wahgunyah. It is the largest town in the Federation Council and was the administrative centre of the former Corowa Shire. The name could have derived from an Aboriginal word referring to the curra pine which yielded gum used by Aboriginal people to fasten the heads of spears to the shafts. Another translation is "rocky river". There are two bridges over the Murray to Wahgunyah in Victoria: the heritage-listed John Foord Bridge and the Federation Bridge (opened on 2 April 2005). ''The Corowa Free Press'' was a weekly English language newspaper published in Corowa, New South Wales, Australia, between 1875 and 1928. History ''The Corowa Free Press'' was first launched by James Crauford Leslie and John William Hutchinson Wyse on 8 October 1875. James Crauford Leslie (1848-1907) was born in Scotland and emigrated to Melbourne, Australia with his family in 1854. In 1874 after being decorated for his involvement in the Maori Wars, he moved to Wahgunyah, Victoria to manage ''The Chronicle'' which served the cross-border towns of Wahgunyah and Corowa in New South Wales. Ruby Svarc (born 28 September 1993) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for Brisbane in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Svarc is from Corowa, New South Wales and grew up on a farm with older sister Cathy Svarc in a family passionate about Australian rules. She played for Essendon in the VFL Women's before being drafted by with the 38th pick in the 2020 AFL Women's draft. She spent the 2021 season on the Lions' list without making her debut and was announced as a delisting at the end of the season. She was, however, shortly afterwards reinstated to the Lions' list for the 2022 season, and made her AFLW debut in round 3 that year in the Lions' win against at Carrara Stadium.
