The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) is an international development charity and the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. It aims to tackle poverty globally. Through local Catholic Church and secular partners, it helps people directly in their own communities and campaigns for global justice. Established in 1960,Side by Side: The Cafod magazine, published Spring 2022 it is funded by the Catholic community in England and Wales, the British government (through UK aid), private and institutional donors, and the general public. CAFOD is part of Caritas Internationalis, the worldwide federation of Catholic aid organisations with a presence in 165 countries and is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and the British Overseas Aid Group. Julie Etchingham
Julie Anne Etchingham (born 21 August 1969) is an English journalist who works as a television newsreader with ITV News. A graduate of Newnham College, Cambridge, Etchingham joined the BBC as a trainee after completing her studies, and went on to present the children's news programme ''Newsround'' in 1994. She joined Sky News in 2002, and also presented editions of ''Five News'' when Sky won the contract to produce news programming for Channel 5 in 2005. CIDSE, which is short for "Coopération Internationale pour le Développement et la Solidarité" (French for "International Cooperation for Development and Solidarity"), is an umbrella organization for Catholic development agencies from Europe and North America.
