Cathal Maenmaighe
Cathal Maenmaighe (died 745) was the 19th King of Uà Maine. Cathal appears to have taken his name from TrÃcha Máenmaige. Connacht
Connacht ( ; ga, Connachta or ), is one of the provinces of Ireland, in the west of Ireland. Until the ninth century it consisted of several independent major Gaelic kingdoms (Uà Fiachrach, Uà Briúin, Uà Maine, ConmhaÃcne, and Delbhna). Between the reigns of Conchobar mac Taidg Mór (died 882) and his descendant, Aedh mac Ruaidri Ó Conchobair (reigned 1228–33), it became a kingdom under the rule of the Uà Briúin Aà dynasty, whose ruling sept adopted the surname Ua Conchobair. Clonfert
Clonfert () is a small village in east County Galway, Ireland, halfway between Ballinasloe and Portumna. The village gives its name to the Diocese of Clonfert. Clonfert Cathedral is one of the eight cathedral churches of the Church of Ireland, Diocese of Limerick and Killaloe. The cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clonfert is located in Loughrea and is home to the Shrine of Our Lady of Clonfert. Kings Of UÃ Maine
Uà Maine was the name of a kingdom situated in south Connacht, consisting of all of County Galway east of Athenry, all of southern and central County Roscommon. In prehistory it was believed to have spanned the River Shannon, and in the 8th century even briefly extended its dominion west to Galway Bay. It existed as an independent kingdom from prehistoric times, and as a subject kingdom up to the end of the medieval era. The acknowledged senior branch of the Ó Ceallaigh (O'Kelly) Uà Maine is the O'Kelly de Gallagh and Tycooly (see Irish nobility and Chief of the Name), and are Counts of the Holy Roman Empire. The Annals of Tigernach report of him ''"Bass Ailello h-ui Daimine, rÃg h-Úa Maine"'', though it does not provide the details or context of his death. He does not seem to appear in the genealogies and, besides an apparent relationship to king Dunchadh ua Daimhine (died 780), does not seem to have left any notable progeny.
