Cataract Falls (Indiana)
Cataract Falls is a waterfall located in northern Owen County in the west central part of the U.S. state of Indiana. The largest waterfall by volume in the state, it is part of the Lieber State Recreation Area. Cataract Falls consists of two sets of waterfalls on Mill Creek separated by about . Owen County, Indiana
Owen County is a county in the U.S. state of Indiana. In 1920 the United States Census Bureau calculated the mean center of U.S. population to fall within this county. As of the 2010 United States Census, it had a population of 21,575. Its county seat is Spencer. Owen County is part of the Bloomington, Indiana, Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cagles Mill Lake
Cagles Mill Lake, also known as ''Cataract Lake'', is a reservoir located near Cataract, Indiana in Lieber State Recreation Area, in west central Indiana on the borders of Putnam and Owen counties. It is alimented from the north by Mill Creek and drains out through to the Eel River to its south, which then makes its way to the White River. Indiana State Road 42 once went through where Cataract Lake is now and currently has a new, entirely different route on the upper area from its original route. Located on the lake are the state's largest waterfalls, the Cataract Falls. A main attraction to tourists on the lake is a bald eagle's nest, where the birds return every season. Cunot is an unincorporated community in Jackson Township, Owen County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It lies near the intersection of Indiana Highway 42 and Indiana Highway 243, which is a community about twenty miles north of the city of Spencer, the county seat of Owen County. Its elevation is 722 feet (220 m), and it is located at (39.4564339 -86.8547315). Although this community is located within Owen County on its northern boundary, it has an address of Cloverdale, Indiana, in Putnam County, which is about six miles northeast of the community. State Road 42 (SR 42) is an east–west road in Central Indiana. Its western terminus is at US 40 in Terre Haute. Its eastern terminus is at State Road 67 and State Road 144 in Mooresville. Route description From the western terminus with US 40, SR 42 heads east out of Terre Haute, paralleling Interstate 70 (I-70). State Road 243 is a north–south highway located in the west central part of Indiana near Cloverdale. Route description The southern terminus of State Road 243 is at State Road 42 in Cunot. Going north, the highway passes through the Leiber State Recreation Area, which features the man-made Cagles Mill Lake and Cataract Falls, the state's largest waterfalls.
