Catalonia Yes ( ca, Catalunya Sí, CatSí) is a Catalan independence political platform founded in 2011 bringing together people from civil society and various public figures in favour of independence for Catalonia. In order to be able to run in coalition with other political parties, it was registered as a political party on 6 October 2011, later to contest jointly with Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) and Independence Rally (RI) in the 2011 Spanish general election as part of Republican Left of Catalonia–Catalonia Yes. History Following the internal renewal within ERC in 2010, primary elections were held shortly after to select the candidate for the 2011 general elections; the winner was the independent Alfred Bosch (with 65.81% of the vote), who beat the party’s then secretary general, Joan Ridao (30.66%). Alfred Bosch i Pascual (born 17 April 1961) is a Catalan academic, journalist, author, politician and a former Minister of Foreign Action, Institutional Relations and Transparency of Catalonia. He was previously a member of the Congress of Deputies of Spain and a member of Barcelona City Council. Early life and family Bosch was born on 17 April 1961 in Barcelona, Catalonia. He is the second of five siblings and grew up in the Esquerra de l'Eixample district of Barcelona. He later lived in Sant Antoni before settling in Ciutat Vella in the 1980s. He was educated at a British school near Barcelona where he was taught in English. Bosch joined the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in 1979, graduating in 1984 with a degree in philosophy and letters. Maria Teresa Jordà i Roura (born 19 June 1972) is a Spanish politician from Catalonia and the current Minister of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of Catalonia. She was previously the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of Catalonia, member of the Congress of Deputies (Spain), Congress of Deputies and mayor of Ripoll, a Municipalities of Catalonia, municipality in north-east Spain.
