Cat (role-playing Game)
Cat is an indie role-playing game by John Wick, in which players roleplay humanity's silent guardians: cats. Gameplay The game's premise is that there are a great many invisible monsters called Boggins which "feed on children's fears and rejoice in men's shortcomings", and which would overcome us if not for the protection which Cats give to us. Cats cannot communicate with us except by travelling into the Kingdom of Dreams. The game uses Wick's ''Advantage'' system. To perform actions, a player must roll enough successes with their dice pool. If they can find an advantage their character possesses (beyond high attributes) they can add dice to their dice pool. Cats are described using six attributes: ''Coat'', ''Legs'', ''Claws'', ''Face'', ''Fangs'' and ''Tail'', which can take the values ''good'' (3 dice), ''strong'' (4 dice) or ''best'' (5 dice). Each cat has a reputation (for example, "rat-catcher"), points for style and scars, 3 names, and 9 lives. Publication hist ...

Fantasy
Fantasy is a genre of speculative fiction involving Magic (supernatural), magical elements, typically set in a fictional universe and sometimes inspired by mythology and folklore. Its roots are in oral traditions, which then became fantasy literature and drama. From the twentieth century, it has expanded further into various media, including film, television, graphic novels, manga, animations and video games. Fantasy is distinguished from the genres of science fiction and horror fiction, horror by the respective absence of scientific or macabre themes, although these genres overlap. In popular culture, the fantasy genre predominantly features settings that emulate Earth, but with a sense of otherness. In its broadest sense, however, fantasy consists of works by many writers, artists, filmmakers, and musicians from ancient mythology, myths and legends to many recent and popular works. Traits Most fantasy uses magic (paranormal), magic or other supernatural elements as a ma ...

Indie Role-playing Game
An indie role-playing game is a role-playing game published outside traditional, "mainstream" means. Varying definitions require that commercial, design, or conceptual elements of the game stay under the control of the creator, or that the game should just be produced outside a corporate environment. Independent publication of role-playing games Indie role-playing games (RPGs) can be self-published by one or a few people who themselves control all aspects of design, promotion and distribution of the game. An independent role-playing game publisher usually lacks the financial backing of large company. This has made forms of publishing other than the traditional three-tier model more desirable to the independent publisher. Formats Independent publishers may offer games only in digital format, only in print, or they may offer the same game in a variety of formats. Some major RPG publishers have abandoned PDF publication, probably as a counter-piracy effort. Common digital form ...

Dream
A dream is a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. Humans spend about two hours dreaming per night, and each dream lasts around 5 to 20 minutes, although the dreamer may perceive the dream as being much longer than this. The content and function of dreams have been topics of scientific, philosophical and religious interest throughout recorded history. Dream interpretation, practiced by the Babylonians in the third millennium BCE and even earlier by the ancient Sumerians, figures prominently in religious texts in several traditions, and has played a lead role in psychotherapy. The scientific study of dreams is called oneirology. Most modern dream study focuses on the neurophysiology of dreams and on proposing and testing hypotheses regarding dream function. It is not known where in the brain dreams originate, if there is a single origin for dreams or if multiple regions of the brain are i ...

Dice Pool
In some role-playing game (RPG) systems, the dice pool is the number of dice that a player is allowed to roll when attempting to perform a certain action. Mechanics In many RPG systems, non-trivial actions often require dice rolls. Some RPGs roll a fixed number of dice, add a number to the die roll based on the character's Attribute (role-playing games), attributes and Skill (role-playing games), skills, and compare the resulting number with a difficulty rating. In other systems, the character's attributes and skills determine the number of dice to be rolled. Dice pool systems generally use a single size of die, the most common being Six-sided dice, six- or Ten-sided die, ten-sided dice (d6s or d10s), though in some games a character's Attributes or Skills may determine the size of the dice in the pool, as well as their number (such as ''Deadlands''). While such games may require different sized dice for different rolls, the dice in a given pool are usually all the same size. ...

Attribute (role-playing Games)
An attribute is a piece of data (a "statistic (role-playing games), statistic") that describes to what extent a fictional character in a role-playing game possesses a specific natural, in-born Property (philosophy), characteristic common to all characters in the game. That piece of data is usually an abstract number or, in some cases, a dice pool, set of dice. Some games use different terms to refer to an attribute, such as statistic, (primary) characteristic or ability. A number of role-playing games like ''Fate (role-playing game system), Fate'' do not use attributes at all. The nature of attributes There is no uniform consensus on what ability scores are, even if many role-playing games have them, but games that use them have a common theme. According to the BBC Cult TV website "''All characters have Attributes — basic physical and mental abilities.''" and in the ''Pathfinder Roleplaying Game'' "''Each character has six ability scores that represent his character's most b ...

Rabbit
Rabbits, also known as bunnies or bunny rabbits, are small mammals in the family Leporidae (which also contains the hares) of the order Lagomorpha (which also contains the pikas). ''Oryctolagus cuniculus'' includes the European rabbit species and its descendants, the world's 305 breeds of domestic rabbit. ''Sylvilagus'' includes 13 wild rabbit species, among them the seven types of cottontail. The European rabbit, which has been introduced on every continent except Antarctica, is familiar throughout the world as a wild prey animal and as a domesticated form of livestock and pet. With its widespread effect on ecologies and cultures, the rabbit is, in many areas of the world, a part of daily life—as food, clothing, a companion, and a source of artistic inspiration. Although once considered rodents, lagomorphs like rabbits have been discovered to have diverged separately and earlier than their rodent cousins and have a number of traits rodents lack, like two extra incis ...
