Gay Caswell
Gay White Caswell (born May 30, 1948) is a writer and former political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. She represented Saskatoon Westmount from 1982 to 1986 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Progressive Conservative. She was born Gay White in Davidson, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Eric W. White and Ann Patricia Foster. In 1971, she married John R. Caswell. Caswell lived in Saskatoon. She was defeated by John Edward Brockelbank when she ran for reelection to the Saskatchewan assembly in 1986. In September 2009, senior Saskatchewan Crown prosecutor Wayne Buckle was awarded damages of $50,000 for comments posed on Caswell's blog; Caswell was also ordered to remove all internet postings about Buckle. Richard Caswell
Richard Caswell (August 3, 1729November 10, 1789) was an American politician and lawyer who served as the first and fifth governor of the state of North Carolina from 1776 to 1780 and from 1785 to 1787. He also served as a senior officer of militia in the Southern Theater of the American Revolutionary War. As a delegate to the First Continental Congress he was a signatory of the 1774 Continental Association. Early life Caswell was born on August 3, 1729, in Harford County (present-day Baltimore), Maryland; one of eleven children born to Richard and Christian () Caswell. The Caswells moved to New Bern, North Carolina, in 1745. He was appointed deputy surveyor for the province in 1750. John Caswell (sometimes recorded as John Carswell) (1654 or 1655 – 28 April 1712) was an English mathematician who served as Savilian Professor of Astronomy at the University of Oxford from 1709 until his death. Hollis Leland Caswell (October 22, 1901 – November 22, 1988) was an American educator who became an authority on curriculum planning in schools. He directed surveys of curriculum practices in several school systems, and wrote several books on the subject. Caswell joined the editorial advisory board of the ''World Book Encyclopedia'' in 1936, and became its chairman in 1948. In 1954, Caswell was appointed president of Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City, and served as its president until 1962. From 1962 until 1966 Caswell served as general chairman of editorial advisory boards for Field Enterprises Educational Corporation. Albert Edward Caswell (1884–1954), was head of the department of physics at the University of Oregon from 1934 to 1949, a professor emeritus, and Fellow of the American Physical Society.
