Casualty (series 16)
The sixteenth series of the British medical drama television series ''Casualty'' commenced airing in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 15 September 2001 and finished on 29 June 2002. It saw another increase, this time to 40 episodes. On 30 March 2002, Episode 350 had to be shown on BBC Two, due to some schedule changes on BBC One resulting from the death of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother earlier that day. BBC One
BBC One is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network owned and operated by the BBC. It is the corporation's flagship network and is known for broadcasting mainstream programming, which includes BBC News television bulletins, primetime drama and entertainment, and live BBC Sport events. Patrick Spiller
Patrick Spiller is a fictional character from the BBC medical drama ''Casualty'', portrayed by actor Ian Kelsey. The character made his first appearance during the fourteenth series episode "Free Fall", which was broadcast on 11 December 1999. Patrick is a specialist registrar in the Holby City Hospital emergency department, who attempts to advance his career and attain a consultancy post, whilst having relationships throughout his tenure with SHO Holly Miles, PC Rachel James and Holly's replacement, SHO Lara Stone. Charlie Fairhead
Charlie Fairhead, played by Derek Thompson, is a fictional character from the BBC British medical drama ''Casualty''. He is the longest-serving character, having played the role of Charlie for over 36 years, and the only remaining original character to have appeared continuously since the first episode was broadcast on 6 September 1986. Derek Thompson chose to take a nine-month break from the show in early 2004. Charlie left the show in series 18 on 17 July 2004 and after five months, returned on 1 January 2005 in series 19. At the end of series 19, Charlie left again as Derek Thompson returned to his break from the show, with Charlie's exit scenes airing on 20 August 2005. Lisa "Duffy" Duffin is a fictional character from the BBC medical drama ''Casualty'', played by Cathy Shipton. Duffy was created by Jeremy Brock and Paul Unwin as one of the serial's ten original characters. Shipton received her audition just as she was thinking of giving up her acting career. She thought her chances of being cast were slim, as she had on bandages following a fall, however, producer Geraint Morris was fascinated by the incident and asked her about her time in the hospital. Harry Harper (Casualty)
Harry Harper is a fictional character from the BBC One medical drama ''Casualty'', portrayed by actor Simon MacCorkindale. He made his first appearance in the series sixteen episode "Denial", broadcast on 8 June 2002. He ran Holby City Hospital's emergency department for five years, before being elected as a Member of Parliament. His final appearance was in the series twenty-two episode "Thicker Than Water", broadcast on 8 March 2008. Simon MacCorkindale
Simon Charles Pendered MacCorkindale (12 February 1952 – 14 October 2010) was a British actor, film director, writer and producer. He spent much of his childhood moving around owing to his father's career as an officer with the Royal Air Force. Poor eyesight prevented him from following a similar career in the RAF, so he instead planned to become a theatre director. Training at Studio 68 of Theatre Arts in London, he started work as an actor, making his West End debut in 1974.
