Castledawson GAC
Saint Malachy's GAC Castledawson is a Gaelic Athletic Club from Castledawson, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of Derry GAA and currently compete in gaelic football, hurling and camogie. 2017 Championship Football History St Malachy's GAC was set up largely thanks to Paddy Graham from the townland of Tamnadace outside the village. The Graham Cup, a reserve competition for South Derry clubs, is named in his honour. Although a relatively small club, they competed for several years in the Derry senior league. Gaelic Athletic Association
The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. Foreglen GAC
O'Brien's GAC Foreglen ( ga, CLG Uí Briain Fothaír Ghleann) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Foreglen, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of the Derry GAA and currently cater for gaelic football. The club is named after Irish nationalist MP and social revolutionary William O'Brien. They are the oldest club within the Derry GAA. Foreglen have won the Derry Intermediate Football Championship three times and the Derry Junior Football Championship once. Underage teams up to U-12's play in North Derry league and championships, from U-14 upwards teams compete in All-Derry competitions. Foreglen won the Derry Intermediate Football Championship in 2012 after they defeated Glen GAC by 3-09 to 1-11. Derry Senior Football Championship
The Derry Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by the top sixteen Derry GAA clubs. The winners receive the John McLaughlin Cup and qualify to represent Derry in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. Glen are the title holders (2022) and back-to-back champions defeating Slaughtneil in the Final to win their second title on 23rd October 2022. History Bellaghy have won the competition more than any other club with 21 titles. Bellaghy's Tom Scullion has more senior football championship medals than anyone in Derry, winning 12 medals between 1956 and 1971. Bellaghy and Slaughtneil are the only teams to have won four consecutive titles. As well as the four-in-a-row, Bellaghy have also won three consecutive titles on two other separate occasions. The 1993 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 107th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 16 May 1993 and ended on 19 September 1993. Donegal entered the championship as the defending champions; however, they were defeated by Derry in the Ulster final played during a deluge in Clones. Derry went on to win the Sam Maguire Cup for the first time, beating Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-final and then Cork in the All-Ireland final by 1-14 to 2-8. Seamas Downey scored Derry's only goal, with his Lavey club mate, John McGurk, being named RTÉ man of the match. Derry Intermediate Football Championship
The Derry Intermediate Football Championship (currently also known for sponsorship reasons as the ''M&L Contracts Derry Intermediate Football Championship'') is an annual competition between the mid-tier Gaelic football clubs affiliated to Derry GAA. Format The competition traditionally took the structure of an open-draw knock-out. In 2007 and 2008, the championship was altered to include a round robin, group structure with the 16 teams divided into four groups. Each club in a group played each other once with the top two in each group advancing to the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards the competition took the format of a knock-out. The format was changed once again for the 2009 Championship. The Derry Competitions Control Committee accepted a proposal to scrap the group stage and introduce a "backdoor" system.
