Castle Terrace Historic District
The Castle Terrace Historic District is located in Clinton, Iowa, United States. The area was platted in 1892 and developed about 1926 by the Curtis Service Bureau of the Curtis Company. They were woodwork manufacturers in Clinton and used the development as a promotional project to showcase the company's products for developers, architects, and builders. It was situated on eleven lots and featured trees, curving streets, and spacious lawns, which gave the area a village atmosphere. The utility lines were placed underground. E. E. Clinton is a city in and the county seat of Clinton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 24,469 as of 2020. Clinton, along with DeWitt (also located in Clinton County), was named in honor of the sixth governor of New York, DeWitt Clinton. Clinton is the principal city of the Clinton Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is coterminous with Clinton County. Clinton was incorporated on January 26, 1857. Tudor Revival architecture (also known as mock Tudor in the UK) first manifested itself in domestic architecture in the United Kingdom in the latter half of the 19th century.
