Castaic Union School District is a public school district serving unincorporated Castaic, portions of unincorporated Valencia, and a very small portion of the city of Santa Clarita within Los Angeles County, California, offering elementary and secondary instruction, grades pre-K through eighth. Until 1890, it was known as the "Castec School District." A small portion of the district's boundaries reside within the city limits of Santa Clarita. The vast majority of this area consists of commercial and industrial properties along with vacant parcels. However, a very small area of residential and multi-family properties located near the intersection of Newhall Ranch Road and Copper Hill Drive are within the city limits of Santa Clarita, and lie within the boundary of the Castaic Union School District. Castaic () (Chumash: ''Kaštiq''; Spanish: ''Castéc'') is an unincorporated community in the northwestern part of Los Angeles County, California. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 19,015. For statistical purposes the Census Bureau has defined Castaic as a census-designated place (CDP). Tens of thousands of motorists pass through Castaic daily as they drive to or from Los Angeles on Interstate 5 (the Golden State Freeway). Castaic Lake is part of the California Water Project and is the site of a hydro-electric power plant. Castaic is northwest of Los Angeles Union Station and northwest of the city of Santa Clarita. Valencia is an unincorporated community in northwestern Los Angeles County, California. This area, with major commercial and industrial parks, straddles State Route 126 and the Santa Clara River. Development projects continue to be built in the unincorporated area. A major expansion of Valencia is under construction with new residential neighborhoods and the expansion of commerce and industrial developments. Castaic High School
Castaic High School (CHS) is a high school in the unincorporated community of Castaic, California, in the Santa Clarita Valley. It is part of the William S. Hart Union High School District. The school officially opened in August 2019. History On March 28, 2018, the William S. Hart Union High School District named Melanie Hagman as the first principal of Castaic High School, its newest campus. The district announced on October 10, 2018 that the school's new mascot would be the coyote and the colors would be charcoal gray, white, and burnt orange. Input was solicited from community stakeholders, including students from Castaic Middle School who would attend CHS.
