Cassandra Garber is a notable Creole and is the current president of the Krio Descendants Union, which was founded by George T.O. Robinson. She was a former teacher and headmistress at the Freetown Secondary School for Girls in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The Sierra Leone Creole people ( kri, Krio people) are an ethnic group of Sierra Leone. The Sierra Leone Creole people are lineal descendant, descendants of freed African-American, Afro-Caribbean, and Sierra Leone Liberated African, Liberated African slaves who settled in the Western Area of Sierra Leone between 1787 and about 1885. The Sierra Leone Colony and Protectorate, colony was established by the Kingdom of Great Britain, British, supported by abolitionists, under the Sierra Leone Company as a place for freedmen. Augustus Boyle Chamberlayne Merriman‐Labor, who later took the name Ohlohr Maigi (1877-1919) was a Sierra Leonean barrister, writer and munitions worker. He is best known for his 1909 book ''Britons Through Negro Spectacles'', an introduction to London which was " rt travelogue, part reverse ethnology, and part spoof of books by ill-informed 'Africa experts'". Life Merriman-Labor was born in Freetown on 28 November 1877. A Sierra Leonean Creole, he was left in the care of his maternal grandfather John Merriman after his mother accepted a job as headmistress in the Gambia. He became a junior clerk in the office of the Colonial Secretary in Freetown. Alhaji Ahmad Tejan Kabbah (February 16, 1932 – March 13, 2014) was a Sierra Leonean politician who served twice as the 3rd President of Sierra Leone, from 1996 to 1997 and again from 1998 to 2007. An economist and attorney by profession, Kabbah spent many years working for the United Nations Development Programme. He retired from the United Nations and returned to Sierra Leone in 1992. Winstanley Bankole Johnson is a Sierra Leonean politician who served as mayor of Freetown from July 2004 until he was ousted by the Freetown City Council on January 17, 2008 after several highly publicised controversies with the previous SLPP regime.
