Casket Salesmen
Casket Salesmen was an experimental progressive-rock band from Corona, California that was active from 2006 to 2010. History Casket Salesmen formed after bassist Phil Pirrone suffered a horrific car accident and, following a lengthy recovery, decided to abandon his post in the band A Static Lullaby. The band was formed in 2005 by Phil Pirrone and Nathan Lindeman, after leaving their former band A Static Lullaby to pursue a different musical direction. Pirrone had started A Static Lullaby in 2001 with Joe Brown and Dan Arnold when he was 16 years old. The band members played in several bands at Ayala High School. Their first album, ''Sleeping Giants'', was engineered by Justin Gutierrez. Casket Salesmen produced the record themselves at their house in Corona, CA, which also served as the headquarters for Justin's Solunaris Studios and Phil's record label, Longhair Illuminati. Germs (band)
The Germs were an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, originally active from 1976 to 1980. The band's "classic" lineup consisted of singer Darby Crash, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Lorna Doom and drummer Don Bolles. They released only one album, 1979's ''(GI)'', produced by Joan Jett, and were featured in Penelope Spheeris' seminal documentary film ''The Decline of Western Civilization'', which chronicled the Los Angeles punk movement. The Germs disbanded following Crash's suicide in 1980. Their music was influential to many later rock acts, and Smear went on to achieve greater fame performing with Nirvana and Foo Fighters. In 2005, actor Shane West was cast to play Crash in the biographical film '' What We Do Is Secret''. New Model Army
The New Model Army was a standing army formed in 1645 by the Parliamentarians during the First English Civil War, then disbanded after the Stuart Restoration in 1660. It differed from other armies employed in the 1639 to 1653 Wars of the Three Kingdoms in that members were liable for service anywhere in the country, rather than being limited to a single area or garrison. To establish a professional officer corps, the army's leaders were prohibited from having seats in either the House of Lords or House of Commons. This was to encourage their separation from the political or religious factions among the Parliamentarians. Circa Survive is an American rock music, rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that formed in 2004. The band, led and founded by Anthony Green (musician), Anthony Green, consisted of former members from This Day Forward and Taken. Against Me!
Against Me! is an American punk rock band formed in 1997 in Naples, Florida, by singer and guitarist Laura Jane Grace. Grand Ole Party was a three-piece band formed in Santa Cruz, California consisting of singer-drummer Kristin Kontrol, Kristin Gundred, guitarist John Paul Labno and bassist Michael Krechnyak. They began recording their debut album shortly after moving to San Diego, California in mid-2006, relocating from the San Francisco, California, San Francisco area. The three met while attending college at University of California, Santa Cruz. Their debut album, Humanimals, was produced by Blake Sennett of Rilo Kiley and was released on DH Records in January 2007. The band opened for Rilo Kiley on their tour from September to November 2007 and for Rogue Wave (band), Rogue Wave in spring 2008, as well as for Yeah Yeah Yeahs in spring 2009. Von Bondies
The Von Bondies are an American alternative rock band formed in 1997. The original line-up formed at the 1997 Cramps/Guitar Wolf show by Jason Stollsteimer and Marcie Bolen. They went through a variety of member changes and band names, including The Baby Killers, before settling on The Von Bondies in 2000. Don Blum joined the band around 1999 after attending numerous Baby Killers shows, while Lauren Wilcox was picked via an audition. The Von Bondies got their break by playing a New Year's Eve show in Detroit, Michigan, in 2000. In attendance at the show was Long Gone John, owner of the Sympathy for the Record Industry label. This led to Sympathy releasing the band's debut album ''Lack of Communication'' in 2001. Mt. Helium, formerly known as the Apex Theory, was an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, that was known for playing Mediterranean music mixed with progressive rock. The band has released three studio albums and three extended plays to date. Morrissey was a follower of the band. Jubilee was an Indie rock band from Hollywood, California. The band was started in late 2007 by Aaron North ( Nine Inch Nails, The Icarus Line) who is the main songwriter and singer in the band. He plays guitar as well. Also on guitar is Tony Bevilacqua ( Spinnerette, The Distillers). Jenni Tarma ( Kylie Minogue, Har Mar Superstar) plays bass, and Troy "Boy" Petrey ( The Icarus Line, Willowbrook) plays drums. According to an early press release, Jubilee's sound is "something like The Replacements, The Stone Roses, Neil Young, Blur, Jane's Addiction, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and The Verve, all sliced ‘n diced together quite nicely." Earthless is a mostly instrumental psychedelic rock band from San Diego, California, consisting of guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, bassist Mike Eginton and drummer Mario Rubalcaba. The band formed in 2001 and released their first album, ''Sonic Prayer'', through Gravity Records in 2005. Their second album, ''Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky'', was released in 2007 through Tee Pee Records. Mitchell sings occasionally, but the band's music is mostly instrumental and features long semi-improvised songs drawing on classic rock, psychedelic rock, jazz and krautrock.
