Casino Niagara
Casino Niagara is a commercial casino located in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. It opened on December 9, 1996, on the site of the former Maple Leaf Village amusement park. With a prime location beside Clifton Hill, it was originally conceived as a temporary facility until Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort opened but has remained open as a permanent facility. It is the second Casino to open in Ontario, and the first to feature electronic Roulette. Casino Niagara has over 1,300 slots and over 40 table games, as well as sports betting. Apart from the pandemic, the casino has been operating for 25 years. Ownership and management The Casino is owned by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. As of June 2019, the casino's day-to-day operations are managed by Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, owner of Mohegan Sun. The Casino completed a $7 million renovation in 2017. The Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls – Fallsview is a historic hotel located in the Falls Avenue Entertainment Complex in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. History The Hotel General Brock opened on July 1, 1929. It was named for Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, who died in the War of 1812, while defending Canada from the invading Americans at the nearby Battle of Queenston Heights. The 260-room General Brock was designed by architects Findlay and Foulis and constructed at a cost of $1.5 million by The Pigott Company of Hamilton, Ontario. Two floors were added to the top of the hotel in 1948. In 1950, the Cardy Hotels chain, which owned the General Brock, was bought by Sheraton Hotels, and the hotel was renamed the Sheraton-Brock Hotel. The Casino Tower, formerly known as the Oneida Tower and Kodak Tower, is a 355-feet-tall open steel tower in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Designed by the architect Alan R. Moody, it was built in a matter of six months by Frankel Steel Company of Toronto in the busy tourist season of 1964. In 1974, the Oneida Tower became known as the Niagara Tower and Plaza Limited. The Whirlpool Aero Car or Spanish Aero Car is a cable car located in Niagara Falls, Ontario that transports passengers over a section of the Niagara River referred to as the Niagara Whirlpool. The system was designed by Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo and has been upgraded several times since 1916 (in 1961, 1967 and 1984). The system uses one car that carries 35 standing passengers over a one-kilometre trip.
