Casino Drive (foaled March 7, 2005 in Kentucky, died August 5, 2019) is an American thoroughbred horse racing, racehorse. Background Casino Drive was sired by 2003 Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year, United States Horse of the Year Mineshaft (horse), Mineshaft, out of the broodmare Better Than Honour, making him a half-brother to 2006 Belmont Stakes winner Jazil, and a three-quarter brother to 2007 Belmont Stakes winner Rags to Riches (horse), Rags to Riches. Purchased for $950,000 at the Keeneland Sales, Keeneland September yearling sales and shipped to Japan by owner Hidetoshi Yamamoto, he was unraced until his three-year-old year. Racing career Casino Drive made his debut in February on the turf at Kyoto Racecourse, Kyoto, winning by 11 lengths under Yutaka Take. Following his maiden win, he was shipped to the United States where, in his second career start, he won the graded stakes race, Grade II Peter Pan Stakes by 5 lengths. Mineshaft (foaled May 17, 1999, in Kentucky) is a multi-millionaire American thoroughbred racehorse and successful stallion. He was sired by 1992 U.S. Horse of the Year and U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee A.P. Indy, who in turn was a son of 1977 U.S. Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew. His dam, Prospectors Delite, is by leading North American sire Mr. Prospector. Bred and owned by the partnership of William S. Farish III, W. Temple Webber, Jr. and James Elkins, Mineshaft is a product of Lane's End Farm. He finished racing with a record of 10-3-1 in 18 starts and career earnings of $2,283,402. Early career Trained by Classic-winning trainer John Gosden, Mineshaft began his career racing on turf in Great Britain.
