Alcazar (band)
Alcazar is a Swedish nu-disco group. Alcazar is one of Sweden's most successful music groups both nationally and internationally with a string of hits since their debut single in 1999. Worldwide, Alcazar sold over 12 million records between 2001 and 2004. Alcazar also had success globally in 2000 with their song "Crying at the Discoteque", having charted in USA, Brazil, Australia, Japan and most countries in Europe. Alcazar disbanded in August 2011 after a concert at Stockholm Pride. They reunited again in 2013 ahead of Melodifestivalen 2014. Band career The group formed in 1998, with three members: Andreas Lundstedt, Therese Merkel, Tess Merkel, and Annika Kjærgaard, Annika ‘Annikafiore’ Kjærgaard (née Johansson). "Sexual Guarantee" is a 2000 song by Swedish band Alcazar. It was released as the fourth single from their debut studio album, ''Casino'' (2000), and samples Chic's 1979 hit "My Forbidden Lover". The song got many good reviews, but failed to make much of an impact on the charts across Europe. While a favorite of radio stations, it lacked the success of their previous single. Chart performance The single was released in Europe, but in different formats and sleeves. For instance England once again made their own sleeves and used their own Alcazar logo. Alcazar's Record Company BMG, in the UK made big effort in promoting Sexual Guarantee. Several promotion posters had been made all across London. Rodney Marvin McKuen (; April 29, 1933 – January 29, 2015) was an American poet, singer-songwriter, and actor. He was one of the best-selling poets in the United States during the late 1960s. "Seasons in the Sun" is an English-language adaptation of the 1961 Belgian song "Le Moribond" (in English "The Dying Man") by singer-songwriter Jacques Brel with lyrics rewritten in 1963 by American singer-poet Rod McKuen, portraying a dying man's farewell to his loved ones. It became a worldwide hit in 1974 for Canadian singer Terry Jacks and became a Christmas number one in the UK in 1999 for Westlife. Alexander Bengt Magnus Bard (born 17 March 1961) is a Swedish musician, author, lecturer, artist, songwriter, music producer, TV personality, religious and political activist, and one of the founders of the Syntheist religious movement alongside his co-author Jan Söderqvist. Bard was a member of music band Army of Lovers. Background and education Bard was born in Medevi, Motala Municipality, Sweden on 17 March 1961. After he completed his upper secondary education, Bard studied in the United States and in Amsterdam, Netherlands. While living in Amsterdam, he earned part of his living as a sex worker. Bard returned to Sweden to study at the Stockholm School of Economics from 1984 to 1989.
