Casey, Iowa
Casey is a city in Adair and Guthrie counties in the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 387 at the 2020 census. The Guthrie County portion of Casey is part of the Des Moines – West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Casey was platted in 1869. The community has the name of a railroad man. The firm John and James Casey, Contractors, from Erie, Pennsylvania, under John F. Tracy, President of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific, built the railroad across Iowa, and through Casey, from 1866 to 1869. Most of the streets in the town are named for Union Army generals in the American Civil War. In 2015 the City Clerk, Dorothy Dillinger, was indicted for misappropriation of city funds and burning down the city hall. She stole up to $300,000 in city funds and spent it on purchases at Victoria's Secret and Wal-Mart, among other places. The City of Casey is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the outer south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Casey is Victoria's most populous municipality, with a June 2018 population of 340,419. It has an area of . The city is named after Lord Casey, the 16th Governor-General of Australia, and was formed in 1994 by the merger of most of the City of Berwick with parts of Shire of Cranbourne (including Cranbourne itself), and the Churchill Park Drive estate within the City of Knox. Stroudley is a sans-serif typeface, created in 1996 by Dalton Maag as commissioned by Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC), a transit operator in Hong Kong, for use on the corporate identity of its railway system; the version used by the rail company was named Casey. History Casey was introduced in 1996 by the KCRC. It is a condensed humanist sans-serif akin to wider Frutiger or Myriad (letters), and the name Casey comes from KC, the first 2 letters of KCRC. Dalton Maag later amended Casey and released it as a commercial font named "Stroudley". Casey are a Welsh rock band formed in South Wales, United Kingdom in 2014. The band formed shortly after vocalist Tom Weaver and guitarist Liam Torrance left previous projects, Continents and ''Hot Damn'' respectively. Originally formed as a studio band under the name Well Wisher, Weaver and Torrance later recruited Toby Evans, Max Nicolai, and Scott Edwards, and began producing material with the intention of performing live. After a brief hiatus while Weaver auditioned to join the band Northlane, the name Well Wisher was dropped, and the band relaunched under the name Casey. The name is derived from both Weaver's love of the album ''Casey'' by The Rise of Science, and also Torrance's tribute to the late Hawthorne Heights guitarist, Casey Calvert.
