Casabó
Casabó is a neighbourhood of Montevideo, Uruguay. Geography The neighbourhood of Casabó is located in the southwestern part of Montevideo, between the districts of Santa Catalina to the west, Villa del Cerro to the east, Villa Esperanza to the north and the Río de la Plata to the south. Casabó is the western extension of the Villa del Cerro and it includes the Fortaleza del Cerro, the Parque Dr. Carlos Vaz Ferreira and the ruins of the cold storage factory ''Frigorífico Swift'', the shut down ''Frigorífico Nacional'', the Club de Golf del Cerro and an area of the Navy. To the west of Casabó is the barrio of Santa Catalina, situated next to the beach and the public park of Punta Yeguas. Barrios Of Montevideo
The city of Montevideo, capital of Uruguay, is divided into 62 ''barrios'' (neighborhoods or districts), each with its own identity, demographic characteristics and activities appropriate to the socio-cultural level of its inhabitants. The outer barrios of Montevideo are largely rural. In a more general usage of the word ''barrio'', some people refer to the biggest large-scale residential complexes of Montevideo as barrios, although they do not appear as such in official lists. Such are the Parque Posadas in Aires Puros, the Euskal Erría complexes in Malvin Norte and others. Many areas of the city that are now considered barrios had geographically independent populations that were later absorbed into the growing city. Villa del Cerro is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. Fortaleza Del Cerro
The Fortaleza del Cerro, also known as Fortaleza General Artigas, is a fortress situated in Montevideo, Uruguay overlooking the Bay of Montevideo. It belongs to the ''barrio'' of Casabó, at the west of Villa del Cerro. It holds a dominant position on the highest hill of the department of Montevideo (popularly known as Cerro de Montevideo) with an altitude of 134 meters above sea level, on the opposite side of the bay. Its function was to defend the population of Montevideo and its port, on the río de la Plata. Governor Francisco Javier de Elío ordered construction in 1809 and it was completed in 1839; this was the last Spanish fort built in Uruguay. It has housed the Military Museum since 1916. Uruguay consists of 19 departments (''departamentos''). Each department has a legislature called a Departmental Board. The ''Intendente'' is the department's chief executive. Uruguay's calling code is +598. Since 2010, national long distance calling was eliminated, thus there are no area codes in each city. Landline telephony ANTEL (Spanish abbreviation for National Administration of Telecommunications) is Uruguay's state-owned company for telecommunications.
