Ivan Caryll
Félix Marie Henri Tilkin (12 May 1861 – 29 November 1921), better known by his pen name Ivan Caryll, was a Belgian-born composer of operettas and Edwardian musical comedies in the English language, who made his career in London and later New York. He composed (or contributed to) some forty musical comedies and operettas. Caryll's career encompassed three eras of the musical theatre, and unlike some of his contemporaries, he adapted readily to each new development. After composing a few musical burlesques, his first great successes were made in light musical comedies, epitomised by the George Edwardes productions at London's Gaiety Theatre, such as ''The Shop Girl'', ''The Circus Girl'', ''The Gay Parisienne'', and ''A Runaway Girl''. Billy Caryll And Hilda Mundy
Billy Caryll and Hilda Mundy were a British husband-and-wife comedy duo who performed in variety shows and films, and on BBC radio, between the early 1920s and late 1940s. Careers Billy Caryll (born William Francis Clark; 23 December 1892 – 15 February 1953) was born in Southwark, London. In 1920, he married Hilda Madeline Mundy (14 June 1893 – 14 November 1968), also from London, and together they developed a popular sketch comedy act, starting in 1921. Inspired by a minor marital disagreement that they had had, Caryll took the role of a drunken husband and Mundy his domineering wife. John Caryll (1625–1711), 1st Baron Caryll of Durford in the Jacobite Peerage, was a poet, dramatist, and diplomat; not to be confused with his nephew, John Caryll the younger, the dedicatee of Alexander Pope's ''The Rape of the Lock''. Caryll was born at West Harting in Sussex, England. He was head of an old English Catholic and Royalist family at that time settled in West Harting, in Sussex. His father, of whom he was heir, was likewise named John; his mother was a daughter of William, second Baron Petre. John Caryll The Younger
John Caryll (9 December 1667 – April 1736) was the second Jacobite Baron Caryll of Durford. A friend of Alexander Pope, Caryll was the son of Richard Caryll (1635–1701), of West Grinstead, Sussex, and Frances née Bedingfield (c.1644–1704), and nephew and heir of John Caryll, Jacobite first Baron Caryll of Durford. He succeeded his uncle in 1711. He married, in 1686, Elizabeth, daughter of John Harrington, of Orle Place, Sussex, by whom he had 10 children, 4 sons (2 of whom married and had issue, while one became a Jesuit priest) and 6 daughters (5 of whom became nuns). On his death, he was succeeded in the Jacobite title, by his grandson, John Baptist Caryll, the eldest son of his predeceased (in 1718) eldest son, also John, who sold the family properties at West Grinstead and Harting, West Sussex, and entered the household in Rome of the so-called "Young Pretender", the exiled Stuart claimant, recognised by Jacobites as "King Charles III". Caryll Houselander (29 September 1901 – 12 October 1954) was a British lay Roman Catholic ecclesiastical artist, mystic, popular religious writer and poet. Early life Born in Bath, England, Houselander was the second of two daughters of Wilmott and Gertrude Provis Houselander who were English Anglicans. Several authors, including Maisie Ward in her 1962 biography ''Caryll Houselander: That Divine Eccentric'', incorrectly state that Houselander was born on 29 October 1901 when, in fact, she was born on 29 September 1901 according to her birth certificate. In her remark in ''A Rocking-Horse Catholic'' (cited below, p. 41), she took the Confirmation name of Michael "after the Archangel on whose feast day I was born." John Baptist Caryll (13 December 1713 – 7 March 1788) was the third Jacobite Baron Caryll of Durford. Caryll was the eldest son of the Honourable John Caryll (28 December 1687 – 6 April 1718), who predeceased his father, the 2nd Baron Caryll, and his wife, Lady Mary Mackenzie, daughter of the 4th Earl of Seaforth and Lady Frances Herbert. After succeeding his grandfather, he got into financial difficulties, as a penalised Catholic, and sold the family properties at West Grinstead and Harting, West Sussex. He entered the household in Rome of the so-called "Young Pretender", the exiled Stuart claimant, recognised by Jacobites as "King Charles III". Caryll Molyneux, 3rd Viscount Molyneux (1623/24 – 1700) was an English peer. Life He was the younger son of Richard Molyneux, 1st Viscount Molyneux and Mary Caryll, daughter of Sir Thomas Caryll of Bentone in Sussex. He inherited the title from his elder brother, Richard Molyneux, 2nd Viscount Molyneux, in 1654. He married Mary Barlow, daughter of Sir Alexander Barlow of Barlow (elder brother of the Catholic martyr Ambrose Barlow) and his wife Dorothy Gresley, by whom he had one surviving son, William, and five daughters, Mary, Frances, Margaret, Elizabeth and Anne. Molyneux joined the Royalist army at the outbreak of the English Civil War, and served with his brother in the Lancashire Regiment, which was mostly Catholic, through almost all the fighting from Manchester (1642) to Worcester (1651). The Sacred City of Caral-Supe or simply Caral, is an archaeological site where the remains of the main city of the Caral civilization are found. It is located in Peru in the Supe valley, near the current town of Caral, 182 kilometers north of Lima, 23 km from the coast and 350 metres above sea level. Caril Ann Fugate (born July 30, 1943) is the youngest female in United States history to have been tried and convicted of first-degree murder. She was the adolescent girlfriend of spree killer Charles Starkweather, being just 14 years old when his murders took place in 1958. She was convicted as his accomplice and sentenced to life imprisonment, being paroled after 17 years in 1976. Background to crime spree Fugate lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, with her mother and stepfather. In 1956, at age 13, she formed a relationship with Charles Starkweather, a high school dropout five years her senior. They met through Caril's sister, Barbara, who was dating Starkweather's friend, Bob von Busch. On January 21, 1958, Starkweather shot and killed Fugate's stepfather, Marion Bartlett, and her mother, Velda.
