Carwarp is a locality in Victoria, Australia, approximately 36 km from Mildura, Victoria. Carwarp was the home town of Percy Stewart, a founding member of the Victorian Farmers Union, from which the Country Party (now National Party of Australia) emerged. Stewart served in both the Victorian Legislative Assembly, where he represented the electoral district of Mildura, and in the federal parliament for the Australian House of Representatives electorate of Wimmera The Wimmera is a region of the Australian state of Victoria. Iraak, Victoria
Iraak is a locality in Victoria, Australia, located approximately 35 km south-east of Mildura, Victoria. Iraak and nearby localities Nangiloc and Iraan were established as soldier settlement farming areas after World War I, road access to the area being from the west via Boonoonar on what is now the Calder Highway. The Post Office opened on 22 September 1922 the same day as that of Nangiloc, closing in 1960. The Karadoc Solar Farm opened in the locality of Iraak in late 2018. Nangiloc, Victoria
Nangiloc is a small rural community in North Western Victoria on the south (left) bank of the Murray River, about 50 km south east of Mildura. Primarily an agricultural settlement, at the 2021 census, Nangiloc and the surrounding area had a population of 153. Nangiloc and nearby localities Iraak and Colignan were established as soldier settlement farming areas after World War I, road access to the area being from the west via Boonoonar on what is now the Calder Highway. The Post Office opened on 22 September 1922, the same day as that of Iraak, and closed in 1960. Irrigation from the Murray and rich local soil has allowed for diverse crops. The area has become increasingly well known for its gourmet wines and fresh fruit industries. Also many niche agricultural goods are produced in this area. Colignan, Victoria
Colignan is a small rural town on the banks of the Murray River, in North Western Victoria, Australia. The town is on the border of the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park. At the 2016 census, Colignan and the surrounding area had a population of 329. The closest town to Colignan is called Nangiloc which is Colignan spelt in reverse. It appears that Colignan predated Nangiloc, and Colignan is thought to have been the name of a local Aboriginal leader. Percy Stewart
Percy Gerald Stewart (18 October 1885 – 15 October 1931) was an Australian politician. He was an original member of the Victorian Farmers' Union and long a radical campaigner for farming interests. He helped bring down Stanley Bruce's government in 1929, but died soon after. Early life Stewart was born in the Melbourne suburb of Footscray, Victoria and educated at Yarraville State School. He worked in Melbourne and western Victoria, including a period as a shepherd, and then went to sea. He gained a master's certificate, but gave up sailing after contracting malaria. He then travelled in Europe and Canada before returning to Australia in 1909. In 1913, he selected a block of land in the Mallee at Carwarp, but later sold it and moved to another farm at Carwarp West. In 1916 Stewart married Edith Catherine Roberts. Red Cliffs, Victoria
Red Cliffs is a town in Victoria, Australia in the Sunraysia region. It is located on the Calder Highway, 16 km south of Mildura and 544 km north-west of Melbourne.
