Carsten Köhrbrück
Carsten Köhrbrück (born 19 November 1967) is a retired German hurdler. Köhrbrück was born in Dortmund. He won the bronze medal at the 1985 European Junior Championships. He won a silver medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1990 European Championships, with teammates Klaus Just, Edgar Itt and Norbert Dobeleit. He also finished sixth in the hurdles event. He later competed at the 1991 World Championships and the 1992 Summer Olympics without reaching the final. His personal best time was 48.89 seconds, achieved in August 1990 in Düsseldorf. This ranks him seventh on the German all-time list, behind Harald Schmid, Olaf Hense, Edgar Itt, Uwe Ackermann, Thomas Goller Thomas Goller (born 28 October 1977 in Dohna, Bezirk Dresden) is a retired German hurdler. Volker Beck (born 30 June 1956 in Nordhausen, Bezirk Erfurt) is a former East German athlete, winner of 400 m hurdles at the 1980 Summer Olympics. With the best 400 m hurdler in the late 1970s and early 1980s Edwin Moses missing due to the boycott, the most likely winner of the Olympic gold was Volker Beck, the East German 400 m hurdles champion in 1980, 1981 and 1983. In Moscow, Beck won the 400 m hurdles in 48,70 s, beating second-placed Vasyl Arkhypenko from Soviet Union by 0.16 seconds, although it was the slowest Olympic final since 1964. The Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU, en, International University Sports Federation) is responsible for the organization and governance of worldwide sports competitions for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 25.
