Carshalton High School for Girls is an academy school for 11- to 18-year-old girls in Carshalton, Sutton, England. The headteacher is Maurice Devenney It is a popular school, and has achieved many awards for efforts from both students and staff. There are many resources for students at the school, including a drama and dance studio and a brand new Sixth Form common room. In January 2011, the school was inspected by Ofsted. They were named as a 'Good School with Outstanding Features'. They were also granted Academy Status in June 2011, along with other schools in Sutton, including Carshalton Boys Sports College. Carshalton High School for Girls is commonly known as CHSG and has recently celebrated 50 years of being a girls school. It used to be a mixed school. Carshalton
Carshalton () is a town, with a historic village centre, in south London, England, within the London Borough of Sutton. It is situated south-southwest of Charing Cross, in the valley of the River Wandle, one of the sources of which is Carshalton Ponds in the middle of the village. Prior to the creation of Greater London in 1965, Carshalton was in the administrative county of Surrey. Carshalton consists of a number of neighbourhoods. The main focal point, Carshalton Village, is visually scenic and picturesque. At its centre it has two adjoining ponds, which are overlooked by the Grade II listed All Saints Church on the south side and the Victorian Grove Park on the north side. The London Borough of Sutton () is a London borough in south-west London, England and forms part of Outer London. It covers an area of and is the 80th largest local authority in England by population. They were announced in 1996 and introduced alongside Sports Colleges to England in 1997, being one of the five "practical specialisms" of the specialist schools programme.
