Carsen Edwards
Carsen Cade Edwards (born March 12, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Fenerbahçe of the Turkish Basketbol Süper Ligi and the EuroLeague. He played college basketball for the Purdue Boilermakers, where he was twice named an All-American. Early life and high school career Edwards was born in Houston, Texas and attended Atascocita High School. Playing basketball and football as a sophomore, he subsequently focused on basketball. As a junior, he averaged 23.6 points, 4.9 assists and 4.9 rebounds a contest, while being named Player of the Year by the ''Houston Chronicle''. In his senior year, Edwards led Atascocita with averages of 26.3 points, 5.1 assists and 4.9 rebounds per outing, earning MaxPreps All-America Fourth Team and first-team All-State honors. Robert Carsen O.C. (born 23 June 1954) is a Canadian opera director. He was born in Toronto and is the son of philanthropist Walter Carsen. Walter Carsen
Walter Carsen (August 14, 1912 – October 8, 2012) was a German-born Canadian businessman and philanthropist, mainly known for his support of the arts. He was born into a Jewish family in Cologne. When he was six, his father died; Carsen was adopted by his stepfather, a lawyer. He went on to study law. In 1938, he moved to London to avoid persecution by the Nazis; his parents fled to the Netherlands but were later murdered at Auschwitz. Although a refugee, he was arrested as an enemy alien by the British and sent to a prison camp in Canada. Carsen avoided talking about this time in his life. In 1943, he got a job grinding optical lenses in Toronto. Later that year, he married Clementine Nahm. He volunteered to join the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, at which time he adopted the surname Carsen; his original surname is not known. Walter Carsen Centre
The Walter Carsen Centre for The National Ballet of Canada is a building at 470 Queens Quay West on the waterfront in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The lower levels house the headquarters of the National Ballet of Canada and the ballet's rehearsal space. The facility has 8,825 square metres of space, more than the Four Seasons Centre where the ballet performs. Previously the ballet had been based at St. Lawrence Hall and scattered other buildings through the downtown core. Built in 1995, it was named to honour patron of the arts Walter Carsen who donated towards its construction. The centre is inside the King's Landing luxury condominium building. This structure was completed in 1984, and designed by Arthur Erickson. The 320 unit building was one of the first condominiums to be built in the former industrial region along the lake shore. Carsen Germyn
Carsen Germyn (born February 22, 1982 in Campbell River, British Columbia) is a former professional ice hockey right wing who played 4 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Calgary Flames. Playing career Germyn played five seasons in the Western Hockey League. He played for the Kelowna Rockets and then for the Red Deer Rebels. He started his professional career with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. On July 6, 2004, he was signed as a free agent by the Calgary Flames. They assigned him to the Lowell Lock Monsters in 2004–05 then to the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights for the 2005–06 season. He played his first National Hockey League game on April 1, 2006 with the Flames against the Edmonton Oilers. In the late summer of 2010, Germyn signed a two-year contract with EHC Olten, a Swiss National League B team, where he played alongside American-born Marty Sertich scoring 45 points in 36 games.
