Pete Carril
Peter Joseph Carril (July 10, 1930 – August 15, 2022) was an American basketball coach. He is best known as head coach of Princeton University for 30 years and for his use of the "Princeton offense". He also coached at Lehigh University and as an assistant with the Sacramento Kings in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Early life Pedro José Carril was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on July 10, 1930. His father, an immigrant from Spain, was employed as a steelworker at Bethlehem Steel for four decades and brought up his son as a single father. Carril attended Liberty High School in his hometown, where he was an all-state selection for Pennsylvania. He then studied at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, playing college basketball for the Lafayette Leopards under Butch Van Breda Kolff. Iván Carril Regueiro (; born 13 February 1985 in Rebordaos, Santiago de Compostela, Galicia) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. Football career After a brief spell with FC Barcelona, Carril completed his football grooming at local giants Deportivo de La Coruña. He was mainly registered for several years with the club's B-side, but managed to appear in ten games with the first team, all in the 2005–06 season; his debut came on 28 August 2005 in a 0–1 away win against RCD Mallorca, his only start. Daniel 'Dani' Carril Freire (born 28 July 1980) is a Spanish footballer who plays for UD Santa Mariña as a left back. Football career Carril was born in Vigo, Province of Pontevedra, Galicia. He was brought up at local RC Celta de Vigo's youth ranks, but never received any playing time with its main squad, signing in 2001 with amateurs Club Deportivo Grove (regional leagues) and joining fourth division club CD Lugo six years later. Esteban Carril Caso (born 24 May 1977) is a Spanish tennis coach and former professional player. Playing career A native of Gijón, Carril was a three-time All-American varsity player at Texas Christian University. On the professional tour he made his only ATP Tour main draw appearance in the doubles of the 2005 Estoril Open, reaching the quarter-finals. Most of his tour matches were on the ITF Futures circuit, where he won one singles and nine doubles titles. Vicente López Carril (2 December 1942, A Coruña, province of A Coruña – 29 March 1980, Gijón, Asturias) was a Spanish professional road racing cyclist from A Coruña. Caril Ann Fugate (born July 30, 1943) is the youngest female in United States history to have been tried and convicted of first-degree murder. She was the adolescent girlfriend of spree killer Charles Starkweather, being just 14 years old when his murders took place in 1958. She was convicted as his accomplice and sentenced to life imprisonment, being paroled after 17 years in 1976. Background to crime spree Fugate lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, with her mother and stepfather. In 1956, at age 13, she formed a relationship with Charles Starkweather, a high school dropout five years her senior. They met through Caril's sister, Barbara, who was dating Starkweather's friend, Bob von Busch.
