Carrie Meyer
Carolyn Meyer Richardson (born August 22, 1955) is an American former professional tennis player. Biography From Indianapolis, Meyer was the Indiana state singles champion in 1971 at the age of 16. Before turning professional, she played tennis at Marymount College (now Lynn University) and in 1974 was the AIAW national singles champion. Meyer, who reached a best world ranking of 14, began competing on the professional tour in 1974. In her first year on tour, she made the mixed doubles quarterfinals at Wimbledon (partnering Rayno Seegers), reached the third round of the US Open, and was a semifinalist at the U.S. Clay Court Championships. She made the biggest final of her professional career in 1975 at the Virginia Slims of Denver, where she was beaten in three sets by Martina Navratilova. The Scottish Championships its original name until 1994 also known as the Scottish Lawn Tennis Championships, and the Scottish Grass Court Championships, was an outdoor tennis event held from 1878 through 1994. The Indiana Loves were a charter franchise of World TeamTennis, World Team Tennis (WTT). The team was founded as the Detroit Loves and moved to Indianapolis for the 1975 season. Following the 1978 season, Loves president Larry Noble announced that the team was folding. Team history Inaugural season The Loves were founded by Seymour Brode and Marshall Greenspan as a charter franchise of WTT in 1973, and played their home matches at Cobo Arena in downtown Detroit, starting with the league's inaugural season in 1974 World Team Tennis season, 1974. The team was led by Rosemary Casals, Rosie Casals, one of the top American female players at the time, and Kerry Harris and Allan Stone, who teamed up to lead WTT in game-winning percentage in mixed doubles. World TeamTennis (WTT) is a mixed-gender professional tennis league played with a team format in the United States, which was founded in 1973. The league's season normally takes place in the summer months. Players from the ATP and WTA take a break from their tour schedules to partake in World TeamTennis.
